Wedgwood Blue
Wanted to experiment with different techniques since I was making my own birthday cake. I had to revise my attempts, one being lace on the cake, as it's been so hot, humid and rainy. Lace just was drying. I wanted to try and get the lacey look from my china tea cup, my inspiration, but wasn't too be. So plan B. There's always a plan B! Two bottom tiers are cake dummies, top is coconut cherry Victoria sponge, recipe courtesy of my friend Katy from CWB. Unfortunately, although I stored my cake in the coolest room, the cake seems to have developed a bulge....this after having to put the fondant on the cake twice...twice! Grrrr. Thank goodness this wasn't for a customer....just little ole me. I made the cameo with a mould courtesy of Mel of SugarandSpiceCakes....thanks Mel.

I had leftover cake…so I thought I’d make a small little tribute cake for my hubby who has been an a amazing Dad to our two now grown children. Both of our children will not be here on Father’s Day. One lives in another province, and the other is out of town…so hope this brings a smile to his face…. Cake shaped like a half golf ball…little hubby golfer beside, with a “D” on his hat for Dad. Of course the obligatory shirt and tie….

A Birthday Rise For Samantha
I had only been home 4 days from a weeks vacation when I re-packed and hopped on a plane to come see my daughter & grandson. My daughter said absolutely NO cake for her birthday, which was today. :o( So I decided to make her this clay craft (paper) open white rose as a keep sake. I literally made this rose the night before I flew out!!

Baby Shower Cake For Felix
This cake definitely does not look like a typical baby shower cake. That’s because the recipient had strong ideas….and one was that the cake not look like a baby shower cake!!! No baby paraphernalia on the cake…diapers, baby bottles, baby blue colour etc. No foo foo flowers either……AND no fondant!! Yikes….what to do???? So I came up with the bluey/ greenish, grey colours in buttercream. A gumpaste bow, combo paper/gumpaste butterflies and a paper doily flower….didn’t think the paper flower seemed too foo foo….hee hee

Jan's Birthday Cake
Made a very little cake for my sis-in-laws 60th birthday. There having a family dinner tomorrow, just four of them. Just couldn’t see her not having a cake for such a special birthday. It’s a surprise. I made a gumpaste teapot for the top as she’s a huge tea drinker. Two cakes nestled together. Bottom is marbled chocolate & white sour cream cake, top is spice cake. Her fav colour is green…..hence different colours of. Thought the yellow flowers made it cheerful….. :o)

Hydrangea
I made this gumpaste hydrangea for a surprise birthday cake in a March. Plus many small hydrangea petals to adorn the cake. Added a fantasy leaf for fun instead of the traditional hydrangea leaf. Wanted to use a impression mat I just bought. Alas, the lady cancelled coming to the luncheon unbeknownst to her that it was actually a surprise party for her 70th birthday!!! Unfortunately, many other dates trying to re-schedule the party have failed. So not sure the flowers will get used. So I thought might as well post. :o)

Party Cupcakes
These are a few cupcakes I whipped up today. Having a few girlfriends over for a Sunday afternoon. I made the toppers a few days ago and glazed with corn syrup & alcohol. SOooo disappointed with my icing. It’s my flour icing I’ve made so, so many times. Got them piped, and within minutes….icing began to droop. :o( :o(. Oh well. Think it won’t mater to them…still tastes great.of course…green icing to coincide with St. Patricks day….. :o)

Paper-Clay Rose
Going to a 60th birthday of a dear dear friend, who use to be my patient. Only friend I kept from my home nursing days. She has a severe form of MS, and she is my hero as she has never complained, or said “why me”. She has accepted her situation with grace. She is now in a electric wheelchair, losing some of her mobility in her hands…amongst other losses. She loves roses. I wanted something she could keep, look at and enjoy and not deteriorate like gumpaste with exposure to sun, heat, etc. I have had this medium Clay Craft clay for some time. It’s best described as like a fancified paper mâché. Slightly damp, but not wet. So googled, used You Tube to find instructions on use and flower making. It’s like nothing I have ever used before. I LOVE it!!! So easy to manipulate..fast drying time… I’ve already made this rose, plus others…still playing to see what other flowers I can fashion. I’m sure my friend is going to love it. Took pictures in different vases and light to capture best effect/view. Thanks for looking….. :o)

She has a older son who is 5 yrs. old, so to say she’s a bit overwhelmed & busy…well…you get the picture. Think she will be pleased….. Hope you like her. : o)

Coffee Filter Flower
Got bored….so what do cake decorators do….practice techniques. Had this tutorial for awhile. My filters were a little larger than what was called for….but I was just about having fun. Painted my flower combo of blue/purple. Doesn’t show up quite as bright in the pics. But purple never does. :o)

Christmas Themed Birthday Cake
Birthday cake for my sons girlfriend. Angel was made a week ago,as the topper. Top tier is a stained glass cake on a styrofoam dummy. 1st tier vanilla/cherry wasc cake as requested by birthday girl. Used my “fake sugar veil” black lace for the border. Was nervous it would crack/break….but I placed on damp paper towel for a few seconds as directed in a video I watched and it was very pliable. Birthday girl loved the cake… Happy me…. :o)

Last Minute 60Th Birthday Cake For A Surprise Party Ordered Yesterday For Today All She Asked For Was Chocolate Cake With Colours Of Yello
Last minute 60th birthday cake for a surprise party, ordered yesterday for today. All she asked for was chocolate cake with colours of yellow and blue. I made chocolate fudge with caramel filling. Used a piece of my Mom’s crochet lace to make the border. Just pushed into fondant & cut out with a exacto knife. Just finished adding the pearls this AM. Pretty happy how it turned out with so little time. I don’t work well under pressure…. Don’t think I would have done it, except it was for my sons girlfriends Mom. I hope she likes it. :o)
