Combined Birthday Celebration Cake
My 84 year old Gram, 3 year old nephew, and 6 year old son are all February Birthdays. This cake is for all 3 of them with a section of the cake dedicated to each one. My goal was to make it a cohesive design. This was the best I could do with the time available. We used color flow for Chief Wahoo, Bulldozer, and Train. The rest of the decorations are fondant. I used brown sugar and crushed chocolate chips for dirt. Cake is chocolate on the bottom and marble on top with butterscotch icing and MMF.

Snowman Meltdown
Saw a photo of melted snowman cookies on this site and just LOVED them! Had to make some of my own. I used marshmallows for the heads. Popped them in the microwave for a few seconds so I could smoosh them a bit and give them a little more of a melted look. I'm really happy with how they turned out. Too cute! I'll be taking them to a Christmas party tonight where there will be plenty of children.

Snowman Birthday Cake
I made this cake for my sister-in-law's surprise 30th Birthday party. My brother figured out a way to get her to think she's going to a Christmas party and they are ordering a cake from me to bring along. So..... she told me what she wanted. ha ha It's a Red Velvet with Peppermint Mocha Truffle Fudge Filling and Cream Cheese icing. It's all covered in Michele Foster's Delicious Fondant. The layers are 8, 6, and 4. My husband was a huge help today with this cake. It is my first 3 tier cake.

Ben 10
Ben10 cake. All buttercream. FBCT. This one was SUPER tricky. So much detail in this image. Everything was so stinkin' tiny!!! Anyway, I hope he loves it. I had trouble figuring out where to put his name. No where to put it and have it be balanced. After the fact I realized I could have put it on the side of the cake between borders. Oh well..... too late now.

Camping Hunting Fishing Birthday Cake
Whew!!! So glad this is done and I'm thrilled with how it turned out. My best friend asked me to make a cake for her father-in-law's Birthday. He's a hunter so we worked out an outdoors theme. I really did things differently with this one but it was a great learning experience. I have to thank my husband for helping me carve the cake, make the rifle, and sculpt the big mouth bass. Other than the grass, all the decorations are fondant/gum paste. The fishing pole and the cat tails are toothpicks.

Fall Baby's 1St Birthday
This is my nephew's 1st Birthday Cake. Gum Paste baby and blanket. Mini bundt cakes sandwiched together formed the pumpkins. The barrel is 2-9" round cakes. The cake itself is the WASC recipe from Recipe Zaar. I substituted a boatload of mini chocolate chips for the almond extract on account of allergies. The leaves are all gum paste and under the leaves is a layer of crushed up twix (my brother and his wife's favorite candy bar). The cake is iced in butterscotch icing. This is my favorite cake to date!

Baby Asher Sleeping On The Moon
Cake for a baby shower on Sunday. Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Icing. I had a lot of trouble with the bottom tier because I didn't use enough powdered sugar in the icing. I figured it out before the top tier but it was a challenge. This is a special cake because Baby Asher has a heart condition. Say a prayer for this kiddo. His first heart surgery is scheduled for 2 days after he is born. He'll have at least 4 heart surgeries and a lifetime of medication. I wanted to do this to make his mom smile.

Wedding Cupcake Balls
Thanks to Bakerella's blog I got this wonderful idea to make a wedding bouquet out of cake balls as part of a Honeymoon Basket. They turned out great! I used strawberry cake mixed with cream cheese icing. The bottoms are dipped in dark chocolate and the tops are dipped in green chocolate. I made roses and ribbons out of ivory gum paste and used royal icing to accent. Here's the link to her site: http://bakerella.blogspot.com/2008/04/make-your-cupcakes-pop.html

Puppy Chaos
My niece wanted a doggy cake for her Birthday. Favorite colors are blue and purple. So... She got a marble cake with IMBC and Michele Foster's delicious fondant. Everything that could go wrong with this cake did! I fought with it all day. Humidity was a bear and my fondant was constantly tearing. Thank goodness the doggies were ripping into this cake anyway! All decorations are fondant and royal icing. Bow has some gum paste in it. (Critique Subgroup Member)

Rockets Red Glare.
Made this for our 4th of July picnic. It was my first time using SMBC. The blue on top of the cake is Wilton's blue glitter. Fondant Stars, Flag, Rockets, and Fire Crackers. There are white chocolate covered strawberries around the bottom of the cake. Wish I had a better pic but forgot my camera. Thanks to my brother, I have this one!

Dora The Explorer 3Rd Birthday Cake
Made this cake for my niece's Birthday. It's 2 - 10" layers. The bottom is chocolate and the top is vanilla with cookies and cream filling. Iced in pink butter cream with a FBCT and fondant accents. She loves Dora so hopefully when she sees her cake tomorrow she'll be pleased.

Mom's 60Th Birthday Swimming Pool Cake
This is the cake I made for my mom's 60th Birthday. It's a chocolate cake with mint chocolate chip between the layers and butter cream icing with fondant accents. Both my mom and dad are made of a fondant and gum paste mix. Mom is supported with wires coming out of her feet. Took HOURS to complete (off and on for a month prepping details) but it was well worth it. She was absolutely surprised and just loved her cake. The guests were horrified when I took the knife to it. ha ha What good is a moldy cake?

Wilton Course 2 Final Cake Basket Weave
I missed class 3 so I don't have all the flowers on my cake and it slid in the car on the way home. But despite all that, I think it turned out really well. This was my first attempt at a basket weave and a rope border. I love the look of the Victorian Rose vs. the standard 104 tip rose.

School Children
This pair will sit on a cake I'm making as a Thank You to the teachers at my boys pre-school. I plan to have them sitting on either side of a banner that says "Thank You Teachers". They don't compare to aine2's figures but she definitely gets all the credit for these little guys. Thank You Lorraine for sharing how you make these guys.

My Mom Diving
My mom is turning 60 in June and I've been blessed with the honor of making her swimming pool cake. I wanted her diving into the pool with 60 on her butt. (gotta have some fun) This is my 2nd attempt at a fondant/gum paste figure. The legs were difficult as they are formed around wire so she doesn't go head first into the cake. If anyone can let me know how to form around wire and get rid of creases please pm me! My dh helped me get a nice round belly and I had a blast dressing her. Thanks for looking!!!

Picket Fence & Flower Pot Birthday Cake
Made this cake as a favor for my mom's friend. I'm still in learning mode so she asked me if I'd want to make the cake so I could practice. It was infuriating trying to get the picket fence stabilized so as long as it makes it to the restaurant in one piece... I'm good. If it doesn't, I might just cry! Don't ask what the flowers are (other than the daisy of course)... I was playing. All in all, it is a very bright and fun cake and I do like it.

Lightning Mcqueen Race Track Cake
Made this cake for my son's 3rd Birthday. Everything is edible except the skewers for the Banner and the car. All the black is fondant, rocks are fondant, and banner is fondant. Sand is brown sugar. The rest is butter cream. Got my inspiration from several other cakes on this site. Thanks to all of you for posting your photos so I could gather some good ideas! Chocolate cake with chocolate icing between layers.

Little Lovebirds Anniversary Cake
Made this birdhouse cake for my in-law's 46th anniversary. This is my first attempt at a carved cake and only my 2nd use of fondant. (1st time was in my fondant and gum paste class last night). The cake is dark chocolate fudge with home made fudge icing between the layers. Hazelnut buttercream icing and fondant decorate the cake. It was challenging and I didn't realize how tense I was till I finished.

First Fondant Covered Cake
This is my first attempt at covering a cake in fondant. We learned to do a handkerchief, drape, ribbon, and garland in this class. I'd been sculpting roses with Sculpey since I was 16. The fondant is very similar to work with so I added 3 roses. I really like fondant. It's a different animal than buttercream but it is very forgiving.
