First time working with fondant
This is still one of the best cakes I ever made
I didn't take a picture before we sliced into it. It was very HOT that day & my BC was starting to slide.
My practice run for Thanksgiving. All buttercream and pretty easy to do. I followed directions from MrsMissey & Linda.
Did this for my sons just for fun. My first try at a treasure chest. 1/4 sheet cake cut in thirds, covered in fondant. I didn't have anything good laying around to fill the chest with, so we lustre dusted some raisinets & round fondant pieces. Wood pattern done w/an impression mat.
My first attempt at a castle cake (practice for one I will be making in January for a bridal shower). Thank you all for sharing your beautiful castle cakes that gave me my inspirations (plus inspiration from Lindy Smith's books). 2-layer 8" square, topped with a 2-layer 6" round. Covered in fondant, pressed with stone wall impression mat. Getting towers to stay level was the hardest part. I learned quite a bit from this attempt & will do some things differently the next time, but overall I am pleased!
