Backyardigans Cupcakes
ARGGGGHHH!!! These were the most frustrating cupcakes. Instructions & pictures found on NickJrs web site. I am not a professional, but most of the time I am pretty pleased with how my cakes come out. But these "simple" cupcakes got the best of me. I just thought they'd come out cleaner, neater. They are cute and all that, but so time consuming without a big payoff KWIM??

House Cake
Done for a realtor turning 70. Design comes from a cake done by the Pink Cake Box Bakery. The roofing is a 9x12 cut in half, stacked and then carved, piece of the carvings used to make the very top peak. Used pound cake for the roof, but it still was not firm enough as it sagged on one side. The house is two 9x12s cut in half and stacked. My fondant slipped more than I would have liked it to! All GP accents. Chimney is RCT. I love, love love the shrubs

Box Cake
A copy of the invitation is in front of the cake. I was asked to match colors. Total pain to match that blue. 8" on 12". BC w/ a GP lid. Thank you to Sugar Shack for the great DVD on boxes. This was my first box with a lids like that & my top box kind of sunk from the weight of the lids! Flowers are GP, puchased from GSA & painted to match invite. Harder than I thought it would be and so many, many flaws...but I like it!

Topsy Turvy
My first topsy-turvy. I did not get a picture of the final cake (forgot my camera!), I added several more dangly jewels on wires. Very fun cake to make, and it really wowed them. My SIL's request was for something "sparkly" GP & fondant accents, silver & gold dragees. Luster dust on everything. I kept fiddling with the BC on the edges as I just could not get it smooth that night

Elmo!
9" on a 12" fondant over BC. Elmo is RCT with RI. DH wanted to know why Elmo was googly-eyed! (I was so very tired when I put the finishing touches on him). All accents are GP. Funky letter tappits on the cake board. This is my 2nd attempt at an Elmo - I always make him too fat! Inspiration came from a cake picture the birthday girl's mom sent me.

Storm Trooper
For my childrens' party tomorrow. 2 layer 8" on a 1 layer 10". Top was baked in a round bowl. Fondant over BC. RI & fondant accent pieces. RCT to build out nose. I wish it was smoother. Lots of inspiration from the galleries (esp alogratera) plus I got a mask from one of my son's Halloween costumes and modeled after that. Also, in the chin area are two little white strobe-like lights. They are actually gibbits! Can't wait to surprise my kids with that one

Cooler Cake
Four 9x12 cakes. BC, with side impression made with a paper towel. Photos in the front are edible images, so is the Igloo logo. Bottles are poured sugar with edible images on them. Ice is also poured sugar. Learned a lesson last night: jello (my original ice cubes) CANNOT come in contact with edible images!!!

Pirate Ship
Cake board is covered with a pirate placemat I found. 12" round is BC. Pirate ship is a 6" square with a rice krispie treat bow, then covered in fondant. Boy is gumpaste & modeled after the pirate in Debbie Brown book. Treasure chest, ropes, barrel & canon are all GP. Mast is a dowel & sail is plain paper.

Harley Cake
Harley made from GP, used a candy mold to get the shape. The painted with silver highlighter & black gel coloring. Cake is 8" round (splenda cake) with diabetic icing from this site. The diabetic icing tasted surprisingly good! I added extra cream to thin it. It smoothed wonderfully! Edible Harley images on the sides.

Elmo Needs To Go On A Diet
8" on 10". Bloated Elmo is RCT with RI. I made him, thought he looked pretty good, then DH comes in and says, "Ah, Hon, isn't he too wide?" My kids voted that he was just fine the way he was! BC with fondant accents. Based on a cake by spotty dog. Birthday girl loved him :-)

Pumpkin Cake
My sister gave me the opportunity to try one of these. Birthday cake for her husband. Pumpkin is spelled wrong intentionally (their pet name for each other....newlyweds!) 2 bundt cakes, choco cake remnants on the top. BC, smoothed w/Viva. Dents made with fondant ball tool. Leaves are candy melts. Acorns are caramels. Stem's an ice cream cone covered in RI & scratched w/ toothpick. Then I painted it with brown food coloring & when that dried I dusted it w/moss green petal dust. Need to fix smile

Shoe Box & Shoe
Finally had an opportunity to try to make a GP shoe. I followed the directions in the Confetti Cakes book. Cake is 12 x 9, cut in half & stacked, covered in fondant. Tissue paper is gp dusted with luster dust. Shoe is GP painted with silver highlighter, dragees across the straps. Top of shoe bok is cardboard covered in fondant. Edible images for the Jimmy Choo logo on shoes & box lid. Very fun to make!
