Hat Box Cake With Sugar Flowers
This cake was made as a showpiece for a Chinese Auction. I wanted to make a cake that i haven't done before and wanted to try for a long time. The hatbox cake was perfect choice. I got to practice a few flowers and get creative on the actual hat box. I had a cameo mold I wanted to use for a long time and i finally got a chance to use it. all together i'm very happy with the outcome. I broke a few flowers along the way - but its all good :-) The cake itself is an 8 inch round.

Engagemtn Party Cake
Chocolate cake with a raspberry chocolate filling. This cake was for a Meeting of the Family Party - where in some cultures a small party consisting of only family member from the brides and grooms side get together. The cake was made to match the decoration of the house the cake was going into. She said she has coppers and browns decorating her house. I think it still looked bridal even with the colors. I dusted the flowers with some gold luster dust to make it more bling-y. I didn't have a flwoer cutter availalble so i used an oval cutter for the petals. Its a fantasy flower - a cross between a rose and peony.

Acoustic Guitar Cake
Well this one is pretty strait forward although i was pretty nervous making it. I found a clipart picture online and used that to make a template for the body of the guitar. The neck was foam-board covered in chocolate fondant (which i marbled with some tan fondant). the decorations are all fondant. The tuning pieces are fondant stuck unto toothpicks pushed through the foamboard. I don't know if you can see from my picture but i tried to get that wood grain into the body of the guitar. I did so by mixing yellow and brown and orange food coloring - (actually airbrush colors) and using my fan brush to paint it on. The hairs on my brush stuck together (much like a bad mascara job) so i was able to get the lines. I made a few coats with different shade variations and on the last pass i squirted in some airbrush super pearl, i;m sure you can use pearl luster dust with alcohol. The string are simply a sowing stings i had. i thought to use floral wire or fishing line but i did not have the patience for it. maybe next time. TFL

Sanitation Truck Cake
This cake was made for a guy who is a sanitation worker and is an Eagle Scout. I was asked to put some eagle scout stuff into the garbage truck. White cake with Oreo cookie filling. Yum. The truck is lifted with a couple layers of foam board cut up into 3 sets of rectangles, stacked and hot glues to each other. I used foam board instead of cake board for support of the cake. wheels are rice cereal treats covered in fondant. I had lots of fun for the cake. I messed up the front and made the windows too big but overall i think it really came out great. thanks for looking.

Victoria Secret Bag And Corset - The Secret's Out!
made for a bridal shower. The Victoria secret bag in the bag is the cake. The corset was made from fondant with some tylose kneaded in. To make the corset, i went to a local value store and purchased a cheap teddy in the smallest size they had.. I cut off the cups and used then as mold for the fondant. I could have used a bra as well, but the teddy was actually cheaper (who knew) The rest of the corset was based on a picture provided by the client. It had lace on the sides and ribbons in the front. I had painted lace design. It took a long time but it came out really nice. TFL

White Chanel Purse Cake
This cake was made for an Engagement Party. Its chocolate with hazelnut filling. The guests at the party all thought the purse was a present from the girl's finance that was put on display. It took everyone a while to figure out that it was cake. For this version of the cake (i made others in black in the past) i used a non-edible chain. Usually i make the chain out of gumpaste. This time, because i was going for authenticity, i used a chain i bought from my local fabric store, and i threaded a satin ribbon through it. That is how the real chanel purse's chain looks like. I haven't figured out a method to make that style chain out of sugar yet. The shoe and necklace are all gumpaste/fondant. It was so humid that at the end of the night, the tip of the shoe dent in. I was a bit upset, but no one noticed. TFL

Louis Vuitton Shopper Monogram Etoile Purse Cake
Ahh,.. i have happy when i got this late order for a Louis Vuitton purse cake. And I was glad it wasn't the speedy, since i did that one already, i was ready for a new purse style. This one carved quite nicely. Some of the detail work was a pain because i was on such a short time constriction. Had a small mishap with the first batch of cake, i was flipping it out of the pan to cool and it all fell on my feet. I don't know how i managed to miss the table , entirely. I tried a new fondant today from Satin Ice. The Dark/Chocolate. I have always used Wilton, but for this project i decided to skip ahead and get pre-made instead of of mixing the color myself. I must say i am very happy with the product. It tastes great. and it was nice to work with. The consistency was much different that what i'm used to, but i made it work by rolling it thicker. If my local store decided to carry the Satin Ice regular white fondant i wold be willing to give it a try as well. This was a Chocolate cake with hazelnut buttercream, on of my most popular combos.

49Ers Helmet And Football
This cake was such a dichotomy, i love it and i hate it. I love the way the football turned out and i hate the way the helmet turned out. It was my first time carving both shapes. I actually though i would have more problems with the football. Which, by the way, was a breeze. All my problems were with the helmet. First the airbrush clogged and i couldn't spray it gold, so i had to paint it . Which really changed the look. Then the gumpaste wouldn't harden for the face mask and just kept on braking. GRRRR... so frustrating. Thank god the cake was for friends and not for a client, At least it tasted great!

Freemason 50Th Anniversary Cake
This cake was created for a celebratory dinner commemorating a man's 50th Anniversary as a Freemason. He is part of my husbands lodge and is a family friend as well. My idea for the cake was to make is look like the mason symbol, the compass and square, resting on a blue cloth on top of a short pedestal. I wanted it to look like a slab of white stone. The cool part about the compass was that I made it really move! I cut out the mason tools and applied them to all four sides. Cake flavor was a fudge chocolate with an espresso filling.

Shop-A-Holic Theme Cake
This cake was fun to make. It was for a 30th Birthday party for a girl who loved to shop. Lord and Taylor is one of her favorite stores. The logo on the front is hand painted. I made my own template for it. There is a string of fondant pearls hanging out the bag. Chocolate cake with raspberry filling.
