Candy Cake
A sugar high on steroids! I saw a cake very similar to this somewhere and had to imitate it for my granddaughters birthday. It's one of my all-time favorite cakes! Three nine inch layers with m&m core, frosted with buttercream, dripped with multi-colored ganasch and loaded up with different shaped suckers. It was so much fun to make! The kids went crazy over it; I made this 2 years ago and the kid still talk about it and so do their friends.

First Birthday Construction Theme
Stacked and carved cakes, frosted with chocolate buttercream. The #1, cones, signs and rocks are fondant as are the tools on the smash cake. The trees are made from Royal icing and the toys were provided by the mom. Trimmed with malted milk balls and crumbled cake "dirt."

Tool Box Cake
This was a 50th birthday cake for my neighbor and the best mechanic ever! Three Stacked 9 x 11 cakes covered with buttercream and glazed with red mirror glaze with some black thrown in to give it that "greasy" look. The tools are made from a fondant and molded and the lid is another 9 x 11 cake on a cake board, that I propped up with dowel rods. The front also has some fondant embellishments on it to make it look like a Snap-On tool box. It was a bit precarious, but fortunately this one didn't have to leave the house.

Orange And Black Mirror Cake
red velvet 10 inch layer cake covered in mirror glaze. I use buttercream under the glaze and do not use the gelatin part that is shown in most of the videos on the mirror cake technique. If you get the buttercream smooth enough...I used the Viva towel technique...it worked fine. The temperature is key in using this stuff and if you line your catch pan with parchment, you can save the left over run off for later use. It can be a pain but it beats all of the waste.

Candy Castle
Two 9 inch layers topped by two 8" rounds, iced with buttercream. The turrets are made from muffins, covered in fondant pressed with wood grain press mold and topped with std size cup cakes and sugar cones covered with sanding sugar. The 8 inch cake is hollowed to add a m&m core. The doors, windows (also wood grain pressed) and crenelation on the rampart are fondant, covered in buttercream, sixlets, and sugar pearls. This weighed a ton, was a pain in the butt but the birthday princess loved it. Especially when the candy came pouring out from inside the cake
