Little Birthday Surprise
quick tiny cake (5 inch round) made for my neighbour who is ever so sweet and helpful if ever she is needed. Its her birthday today and rather than buy her a small gift like I normally do I thought I would make a little cake she can enjoy with her hubby and two small boys. White chocolate mud cake, covered in fondx. Gumpaste roses & flowers. Fabric ribbon. I am happy with it other than the ribbon, I didnt realise how mismatched it looked until the photo was taken and by that time it was already stuck on.

Dress
inspiration from wilton 2007 yearbook. White choc mud cake covered in fondx. Bodice and flowers are fondant. Generally easy... little fiddly to attach bodice to dress skirt. Other tricky part was pan shape. In US its called WONDER MOLD and in Australia DOLLY VARDEN... while they are designed for the same purpose the US version is more squat and fat and australian version taller and pointier.. this meant resizing the bodice considerably from the template but overall happy. For my daughters 8th birthday.

Round Swan Wedding
2nd ever wedding cake. 1st stacked cake. 10 inch base & 6 inch top layer. Both caramel mud cake with caramel ganache layers. Covered in fondx with gumpaste roses. Matron of honor (considerably older than the bride) ordered this with very little information, she liked a pic I had of a similar cake but wanted swans and a bow. Personally not keen on either of these additions but its what she wanted. All feedback welcome and appreciated.

Evening Purse
6 inch caramel mud cake purse. Not real happy with this one. I think it looks more like a little girl wearing a bonnet, with two eyes and a big smile. I was worried about covering this shape in fondant but that was fairly easy. THe trouble was getting the handle/strap to look realistic... I tried so many ways and was also a problem on another cake a few months back... If anyone has any tips with how to get handles/straps to look realistic, i would love to know and have your help

Christening
14 inch double layer dark chocolate mud cake with rich dark chocolate ganache centre. Huge and heavy. Design was to match invitation which was a very light avocado green with a pink and white gingham dress with little white daisies on it. We were asked to incorporate all of these aspects. The dress is an elarged version of of the dress on the invite. Thanks for looking. all feedback and suggestions welcomed

Flowers on top are australian native wattle (yellow balls) bottle brush (red) and waratah (red). All gumpaste apart from the bottle brush strings which are made of cotton and dipped in gumpaste glue so they would stand upright. Fondant rope at bottom pushed through clay gun. Socceroos Jersey
A mad fan of the australian socceroos team (first team to qualify for the world cup in 32 years) was being given a surprise 70th birthday. His daughter decided on a dark chocolate mud cake made into the socceroos jersey with buttercream. These jersey cakes are sure becoming popular for us.

Make Up Bag
alternate view: 7 inch white chocolate mud cake covered in fondx. Handle and make up are out of gumpaste. Lid is made from one strip of fondx cut using ribbon cutter and glued around the cake to give impression of lid. First time using fondx.. very soft to use... tastes divine.. a real winner in the fondant department. For my daughters 10th birthday.
