Classic Sugar Cookies

The best sugar cookies ever! This was my grandma’s recipe and everyone in the family and my friends look forward to these during the holidays! Very good with BC frosting!

Classic Sugar Cookies


  • 6 C sifted flour
  • 2 TSP baking powder
  • 2 TSP salt
  • 2 TSP soda
  • 3 C sugar
  • 2 C shortening
  • 4 eggs
  • 8 heaping TSP milk
  • 4 TSP vanilla


  1. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, soda and sugar. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal. Blend in egg, milk and vanilla: roll out on floured board or counter. Cut with cookie cutter: place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for about 6 – 8 mins depending how thin you rolled the cookies out to be! I cook them at 6 mins and heyare perfect!
