This is a good alternative to just plain chocolate.
Ingredients
250g Butter
100g toblerone
100g dark chocolate
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup booze of choice ( I use baileys or similar )
3/4 cup buttermilk
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 1/2 cups caster sugar
1 TBSP honey.
1/3 cup cocoa
3/4 cup SR flour
1 cup plain flour
2 large or 3 small eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
combine the first set of ingredients in a heavy based saucepan and heat gently until sugar and butter and chocolate are combined , set aside for a half hour to cool .
Whisk in sifted dry ingredients , eggs and essence.
Cook in a tin lined with baking paper , at 160 degrees celcius for the first half hour , reduce heat to 150 and cook for a further hour or hour and a half , until a skewer comes out clean.
This cake keeps very well and actually improves with age.
I know I am possibly a little late answering , but I didn't get a notification .
I used to use unsalted and add a pinch of salt, now I just use salted as I feel chocolate needs a little salt.
do you use unsalted butter?
