I LOVE this cake - the shells are beautiful! DId you make the topper also?
marilyn-I didnt make the topper. It was given to me by the client just as I was making the sea shells. I need to put another photo of the final product at the wedding site. It had sand and more shells all around it. All edible of course!
Jimnik14, the shells I used on this cake aren't chocolate. So, I am sorry I can't help you out there. What I can tell you is how I did mine. The shells are made of fondant, using a chocolate mold. I marbled my fondant, then dry dusted them. I hope that helps you out, and have a wonderful destination wedding!
This is an awesome cake. Thank you for adding the pan sizes. I am gathering ideas from this website for our destination wedding/vow renewal.
I have read about several different methods for adding pearl dust to white chocolate shells that ranges from dusting the white chocolate shells before they dry to mixing the pearl dust with a few tablespoons of white alcohol. Which method did you use and which method do you recommend?
