Thanks to everyone here on CC for your help and inspiration to do these! I really liked the way they turned out. They are not perfect but they were really fun!

Thank you all for your wonderful comments. I think it took probably about an hour and a half to to 2 hours just decorate them. Took me a while but it was well worth it. And feel free to borrow ideas....I did...my ideas came from different people right here on CC. Thanks to you all!

WOW!!! WONDERFUL JOB! They look amazing! Are they using the mini ball pan? is it fondant? or buttercream? Thanks...p.s. I think they are pretty perfect.!!

Thanks Nicoles, yes it is the mini ball pan on top of a regular cupcake. I used rolled buttercream instead of fondant...I don't like the way fondant tastes so I use the rolled buttercream all the time!

I use 1 cup shortening, 1 cup karo syrup, 1/2 tsp. butter flavor, 1/2 tsp vanilla, and about 8 cups powdered sugar. You combine the shortening and syrup together then add flavors and then powdered sugar. The icing will form a ball. I find that putting it in the refrigerator and then using it works best. Hope this helps!

Well, they do look very nice!! a little tip...stop squeezing the bag before you pull away, so you don't have those little tails! and if they are RI, a tap with a well powedered sugar fingertip will take care of that! They LOOK so real!!

Thanks for the tip! This was the first time I actually did little decorations like this with Royal Icing. I always forget to stop squeezing! Thanks again for the tip! The tops are resee's minis I heard someone suggest yesterday just painted with luster dust....first time using that also and LOVED it!

ooh reese's minis? I think that's awesome - I might have to go find those - certainly quicker than doing the gumpaste/fondant ones! They look great! I may "borrow" a couple of those designs if I may :) how long did it take you to do this? just the decorating I mean [email protected]

Awesome Christmas Presentation at a party! So...the mini ball pan cake sits on TOP of a regular sized cupcake? Are the cupcakes in paper cups and you just decorate the mini ball part? Thanks for any tips!
