Whimsical Paint Can

Whimsical Paint Can on Cake Central

I was looking forward to this cake .... unfortunately it didn't turn out the way I was hoping. It was filled with caramel and the paint can filling started buldging (after damming) and the cake leaning forward - it was dowelled right through the entire cake so I didn't think it would fall over. This is vanilla caramel cake with caramel filling and WBH BC. Fondant accents and edible image 'paint label'.

Your being to critical on youself- I think this is amazingly creative. The bulging actually makes it look like a real can -so it was meant to be.Great Job! Very inspiring.

This is SO precious!!! I absolutely love this cake. You did a fantastic job; bulging can or not (I thought the can was supposed to do that. :-) )

I agree. I would have thought the can was supposed to have ridges on the side. Also, it does not look like it from here, but if it is leaning a little then the paint splashes look even more convincing!!

You know what I love about this cake? I love the "movement" you created with the paint splashing and some spilling over the side. really fun design!

how does everyone make those balls on a wire things for whimsy cakes? Is it just fondant on the wire? I had tried that but they wouldn't stay put, just slid around.

oooops... my 1st double post, just got too excited! Btw, I love this cake, it would be such a great idea for an artist, or interior decorator! Great job (and the buldges look intention, and if you hadn't mentioned them, i wouldn't have noticed)

I just love the way you've captured the movement of the paint splashing! This is so creative and impressive! I'm saving it to study for future reference. Maybe I'll learn something from it. It's great! Ã

OK, i know you have had this pic up for a LONG time now, but the bulging actually makes the can look more realistic, I really like it!

Thank you everyone! I've actually had to make more than 5 different versions of this cake since first creating it ... I guess I came up with a good design! lol
