Birthday Bear on Cake Central

This kind of teddy bear is pretty popular and I get asked to make him quite a lot. The little roses are made from sugarpaste (fondant) and food safe glitter sparkles them a little for effect. This should be brushed off before the cake is eaten though. The roses are as far as my flower making skills go!

They are made by hand. I have a lot of these little teddy bears at home and I sat one in front of me for guidance on how it should look. The roses were my idea. They are made from a very small sausage of sugarpaste (fondant) rolled thinly then gently rolled up using your finger. The "petals" have to be teased out gently just using your finger again. I textured the fur by using the pointed end of a flower/leaf shaper tool made by PME. I use this tool a lot for this kind of thing and also for creating different mouth expressions on my characters.
