Stack Of Pillows
Made this at a Collette Peters class called "Cake Sculpture". It is a dummy cake covered in fondant. Painted and sponged with luster dusts.I ran out of time before I could put the finishing touches on the pillows, but I was happy with the results. Unfortunately, when stacked, the cake came out lopsided! Anyway, I'm anxious to try this with real cake. :)
Wow - that's beautiful! The pillows look very real! What kind of fondant did you use?
The brand of fondant was Carma and it is what Collette recommended..she brought it.
wow that is wonderful. I am very jealous! 8O
Beautiful!! You did a great job. I love the colors.
Iam so jealous, you got to take one of Collettes classes!!!! Fabulous work.
Very nicely done! I'd love an excuse to make a pillow cake; I've been wanting to try one for ages. I'm always amazed at how much luster dust Collette uses--it's no wonder her cakes cost a small fortune!
Just beautiful cindww!! WOW!! You did a wonderful job!!
Beautiful job! On real cake how do you keep the edges of the pillow not to fall off?
beautiful cake
siblingsweets, good question. I'll let you know when I do this with real cake :)
Great job Cindy
I think they are wonderful!!!! I want to take a class!!!!
It's even prettier in person (hey, I was lucky enough to be in that class too!)
thanks karen and everyone for the nice comments. My son has started to eat away at the bottom pillow!
WOW!
I agree with TERRYHORTON, I would love to see a turorial on how to make the shape and get all the edges so neat....Please? It is a beautiful cake and I would also loved to have taken her class.
Awesome
these are so beautiful...it has a moroccan flair!!
ellepal..thanks, that's exactly what I was trying for! Thanks to everyone for their kind words. Collette rocks!!
cinww....now we will wait for the tutorial on pillow cakes!!!
I am so glad you enjoyed the class, and your pillow cake is beautiful!!!!
I would love to know if you have tried this in real cake - very nice. I have an order for one very soon and was going to do the bottom half of the pillow in rice crispy treats so I could mold it - any thoughts?
Fantastic job. I can't wait to try this style cake.
Can't wait to see what you do with this in cake. Real pillows would be lopsided anyway. I think more attractive that way. Amazing job. Love color and texture choices!
Gorgeous work!
