I also think it's a steal for $40! Two -tier cakes start over $100 at the pastry shop where I order cakes (NJ)! It's beautiful like all you other work!

on

The basic princess castle cake (using the kit) goes for $50 at the specialty bakery I frequent for supplies. I'd definitley charge more for this kind of cake. It's a LOT of work. And adorable by the way too!

on

Thats a beautiful cake, and you must be crazy if you think this cake is only worth $40, oh try $80!!!

on

You have to charge more! The more people pay for things the better they think they are. Your work is realy top quality so people should be paying for it! by the way, very cute cake! If you double the price and half the people say no then you still make the same amount of money but only have to do half the amount of work

on

I'm with everyone else! If they don't want to pay a fair price for it, they don't deserve this beauty!

on

OMG...you should be charging way more...the amount of detail and work that goes into them...your cakes are truely amazing

on

Your cakes are always so great. I am in Australia and $40 US translates to about $55 Australian dollars and I can tell you that here in Australia you would easily get over $100 which is about $75 US dollars.... is the money you are getting worth it?

on

Boween, i love this cake, how big is it?? I think you should try at least $60, you'll be suprised how many people will pay for it. Even $60 is too cheap, but you need to move it up a bit. Your work is surely worth it. If you could get a cake like this here for that price, you'd be inundated with orders, and i mean a price of $60 not $40 : )

on

I have to agree with everyone else... I would charge at least 65$ for that cake. If ppl aren't willing to pay the price, then they don't get a cake. plain & simple. Your time & efforts are valuable, they are getting the cake for a steal at 40$. Great job, btw.. I just added it to my favorites!

on

Oh my! I would have thought $50 (at least!) Okay, start by going up to $45.00. That shouldn't hurt too much; and those $5 will add up. Your cakes require prep work; they are stacked (mostly); you use icing images which probably aren't cheap. I know, I know...so hard to tell customers you are going up in price. But I KNOW they wouldn't blink at $5.00 or even $10.00! Sugar has gone up in price!

on

Ok, my jaw literally dropped when I read how little you charged! This is worth FAR more!! That is super cute, extremely detailed, colorful and original! I would have guessed $100 easy!

on

I just paid a lady $97 to do a similarly tierd cake for my parent's anniversary! I had to cut back on design work to get it down to that price. She charged $20 a piece for bows like that alone. Your work is amazing and you deserve to charge what it is worth!!!

on

Amazing cake! I know what you mean, where I'm from it's hard to get what you deserve. People just don't understand the time and effort that goes into these cakes! But, $40 is way too cheap!! Good luck!

Hi Boween, This cake is so beautiful that I'm going to try and make one something like it for my daughters 5th birthday in 2 weeks. If you have time could you tell me the size pans that you used, what kind of filling and how far in advance did you make the fondant decorations? Also are the decorations completely fondant or are the gum paste too? I made MMF last week and it seemed to dry out really quickly....so I'm not sure how it would work for making the loop bows. Thanks!

on

this is a 6" and a 8" buttercream filling, I make my detail about 2 days in advance, I use fondant with a bit of gumtex from Wilton added to it. I only use satin ice I have never used MMF!

on

Well, you're going to have to stop making them so awesome if you want people to stop ordering them!!! ;)

on

Question for you, I'm getting ready to do my daughter's 1st cake. Do you use florist wire? How long do you let your fondant dry in the shape for a bow?

on

you aren't charging near enough. you have a talent that is worth way more that $40. believe me people will pay.

I'm with everyone else. $40 is rediculously cheap for this much work. How long does it take you to do it? I would think $65 wouldn't be out of the question.

BY SELLING YOUR ARTWORK SO CHEAP YOU ARE NOT HELPING YOURSELF OR ANYONE ELSE!!!! THE INGREDIENTS,BOARDS, BOXES,FONDANT HAVT TO COST AT LEAST 20-25 AND THE HOURS DO YOU WORK FOR LESS THAN MINIMUM WAGE I DO NOT WORK FOR LESS THAN $20 AN HOUR AND SOMETIMES I DO NOT THINK THAT IS ENOUGH FOR MY TIME ADD UP YOUR COST AND CHARGE YOUR HOURS ON TO THE COST IF PEOPLE DO NOT WANT TO PAY TELL THEM TO TRY TO MAKE THAT CAKE THIS IS A BUSINESS!! THE MORE YOU CHARGE THE BETTER PEOPLE THINK IT IS 8O

on

this is fantastic! What paper did you use to cover your board? Also is there anything supporting the number from behind? I love this cake!
