Jungle Fun

Cake for a 1st Birthday with a jungle theme. 12, 9 and 6 in, covered in buttercream with fondant/gumpaste animals (posted close up of animals separate) and palm trees. Toucan is painted, and I probably added one too many spots on the giraffe..LOL! My husband gave me the idea of the giraffe spots going up the cake. Hope you guys like it.

Adorable! How did you make the palm trees? They look great. :D The whole cake is fantastic...love it!!!!

They look great! Did you use any kind of internal support, especially for the giraffe? Would love to know.

You husband has great taste; the spots going up the side are just a perfect touch. Love your sharp edges on the cakes, and everything else is just delightful.

Thanks! fem128, there is a wire in the neck of the giraffe. The neck and head are one piece, the body and the legs are all separate. I let all parts dry before attaching them to each other.

Thanks! Palm trees are twisted ropes of fondant and I cut out five individual palms and attached them to the "tree" part with gumpaste glue by overlapping them. I let them dry for at least 4 days, so I didn't need to insert any wires to keep them straight.

Yes, the spots on the cake, almost "make" the cake. The figures are adorable and the edges are perfect! Wow!
