Pumpkin Cake

Pumpkin Cake on Cake Central

Pumpkin Creme Cake with Maple Pecan filling. Leaves are gumpaste (first time working with that medium), sponged with vodka-diluted color and then dry brushed with a mixture of gold and copper luster dusts. All other decorations are fondant. This cake is my entry into my boyfriend's company Thanksgiving dessert contest. We both think politics will play a big part in deciding the winner, but I'll let you know how it goes.

You certainly get my vote!!! I think it is a gorgeous pumpkin and I love the colors of the pumpkin and leaves. It sounds delicious also. Very well done!!

:) You did a beautiful job. I really love the leaves. Do you mind sharing that recipe for the filling? TIA I will be attempting one of these next week. :o

I used cream cheese icing and added maplesyrup with some pumpkin pie spice. Then sprinkled pecans over it.

Just love the way you did the leaves. Congrats on the "special" win at the office- they wouldn't have gone to all that trouble if it wasn't spectacular!

Well my cake didn't win. An apple pie won! But the judges did create an honorable mention category just for me and donated their own money to create a $35 prize for me. My BF said that all the employees were making such a fuss over my cake that they had to do something. He said people were going into the breakroom and taking pictures of my cake!
