for a co-worker. I got the idea from Collette Peters but, I added my own touches. I carved the pot, and groundhog. I covered in MMF and used tip 233 for the fur. He is a little healthy but, I think he is kind of cute. Just thought I would share in case someone needed a groundhog day cake idea.

Absolutely adorable! I love the fact that he's 'healthy', too.... I can't picture him any other way! (I mean really....when you think of a groundhog do you think fit and trim? nnnnaaahhh!! icon_smile.gif )
*edited because I wanted to mention that I LOVE the little frog, too!

That is SO CUTE!! He is just adorable! And honestly... he needs to be a little pudge bucket... that's how they look. If they're skinny, they won't make it through the winter! icon_wink.gif Thanks for sharing!

Melvira is right, they're supposed to be on the gordo side! The cake is great, and just in time for Grundsow Day. That is a big deal here in PA, where Punxatawny Phil predicts the beginning of Spring every year.

Very cute! My parents have an anniversary and I lived close to them I'd want to do this for them... they'd die laughing.

OMG that's what started running through my head when I saw the cake! "Don't drive angry! Don't drive angry!"

Your groundhog is perfectly proportioned, and I adore it!

he is TOO cute!! i'll be making a groundhog cake... i was considering groundhog cupcakes but i like your cake idea! Not only is Feb. 2 Groundhog Day but for my house, it's Adoption Day! The adoption of our youngest daughter was Final Feb. 2, 2006! SOOO.... i decided I wanted to celebrate that day but not make any other kids in this house sad because they have no adoption day (all BIRTH-days) that we would just have a special Groundhog Day cake and homemade pizza.... icon_smile.gif
I know.... TOO MUCH INFO, KELLIE.....

OMG....he looks JUST like the one that used to sit and eat all my petunias lined along the sidewalk going up to our house. icon_lol.gif ( We used to live right on the water at Lake of the Ozarks by a golf course, where there were groundhogs everywhere!)

I accused my DH of whacking off the top of a few flowers with the weed eater... icon_mad.gif until one day I walked past the window and saw a plump furry groundhog with a pink petunia hanging out the side of his mouth!!! icon_cry.gif

Yes, I apologized to my DH... icon_redface.gificon_rolleyes.gif
