I remember Sweet Dreams, I joined that one.   That  was my first. I wonder what happened to Tracey and if she is doing cakes.

I googled and firstly internet kept correcting my search. Wouldn’t accept “Tracey”, with an “e”, but changed to “Tracy” no “e”. Only sites that came up were Sweet Dreams Cakes, but it’s based in the UK. So obviously that’s not the Tracey you speak of.  And Tracy’s Sweet Addiction in North Carolina, who was originally from Utah.  http://www.tracyssweetaddiction.com/

Thought Tracy’s Sweet Addiction could be a name change.  But since the spelling of the name isn’t the same, figuring it’s not the same Tracey.  Your “Tracey” could still be active, but just isn’t on social media of any kind. I have a very busy cake decorator friend here in my city who you never know about, or find on the net. No fb page, no website. Strictly word of mouth.

betty! so cool! loved that place and tracy -- she drove a pt cruiser -- was a great gardener -- did lovely cakes and a vital cake forum -- lots of helps and recipes, pictures and tons of cool stuff -- worked at a jeweler's store last I knew -- had an adorable house

june -- she closed the sweet dreams forum -- and I might be spelling it wrong too -- but she then went to fb where I found nothing as well -- no most all of those forums are gone -- egullet.org is still there but it has a baking segment, it's mostly a foodie place but they are the ones that sent me the world pastry forum -- was amazing!  -- cake central is still open -- that's all that I know of -- oh that cakes we bake but i was never active there --

just checked and sarah phillips still has baking911 now called crafty baking -- it's a paid forum but sarah is really cool

the cake bible person, rose might still have a site -- yeah she's still there but I don't think it's a forum -- she has a baking club though on fb and you bake different things and post your opinions

there's prolly more out there...

yeah here's the gingerbread forum https://www.gingerbreadexchange.com/

i'm sure there's more

I was on some very early cake forums...2006/2007???? Can’t even recall the names? Earlene’s rings some kind of a bell. I remember baking911. I followed Rose Levy Beranbaum...The Cake Bible book author. I was getting monthly updates, but eventually, I grew disinterested, and unsubscribed.  I have the Cake Bible book, bought I think around early 2007  to help me with making my daughter’s wedding cake. I got a lot of really useful and helpful information. I still refer to the book as far as the science of baking. But most of Rose’s information on baking, assembling, filling, etc has now been eclipsed with much better and up to date information you can find on the internet or YouTube. Actually I gave away lot of my early cake decorating books because they were no longer useful.  As far as any cake forums, fb included, I’ve really pulled away. Took up way too much of my time. And I removed myself from several groups. I just don’t have the same enthusiasm for cake decorating I once did. I’m fortunate I am still doing 10 cakes a year for my family. That’s just hubby and I, kids & grandkids. I have lots of extended family, but they’ve never asked me to make a cake in years. Which is fine by me.

I miss Tracy's site, she was quite a character. I remember she had a tattoo she was doing down her back, it was really pretty. She admired one of my garden flowers on my site, a triple lily,  so I sent her some bulbs and she sent me her homegrown dried catnip for my cats. If anyone had opened the box & seen it they would have thought it was "weed". She loved to decorate her house for the holidays and she loved her cats and her garden.

I almost certain I was active on the sweet dreams site but just can’t remember it for sure      Yes K8 we travelled from northern IN to central CA pulling a 40 ft 5th wheel   I have pix of it & that road you mention   I wonder if it’s still passable as it is very close to the area where the recent earthquakes are   The only way as I remember to get over the mtns to the town of ridgecrest except from the south — a much longer trip

With what is being said re Tracy some of  it is sounding right so I guess I was active there—I just don’t remember it very much      Hey K8 I ran across pix of the 5th wheel  trailer we pulled from northern IN to central CA & that road you mentioned   I wonder if it is still passable as it is very close to where the earthquakes are in Ridgecrest   In fact it’s the only way to get over the mtns to Ridgecrest without going some 100 miles around   The road is little more than a single lane with no guard rails  & a very deep fall on one side -mtn wall  on the other

yeah i remember you were pretty stressed about that and asked us all to pray — I mean I was stressed out just traveling up 1 that road that goes up the california coast — that was nuts and it was two lanes! I can’t imagine what you went through on that — it was a dang good thing we were on the mountain side of that road and not the ocean side — omg

that's OK.  In answer to the treads original question ; you can go back to January 2014 when the worst of the spam got out of hand & many Old Timers left the forum. Back then several Old Timers believed they knew who started it.  Some did not believe. Bakers & Cakers may still look to this forum for good information, especially by doing searches of the gallery, forum, recipes, & tutorials.

Yes there still is a wealth of information by searching the old posts   BTW  I don’t think this onslaught started back as far as 2014   Closer to 2017 I think

Well no matter what the site looks like, you guys are invaluable to me.

I am not, and probably never will be, on any type of social media and this cake website is a safe place where I trust the participants to give me sound, thoughtful and wise advice on all things cake.

I am extremely grateful for this forum and only wish I had found it sooner :(.

Well one thing about those is that we at least heard from Jackie or Heath —no longer  & it appears no attempts made to stop it :(

Had a long post & got the dreadere WHOOOPPS message :(     Trying again.

I wonder who is changing the "featured content" posts on the home page  Someone must be working on the site don't you think?  If so why don't the clean up all that dumb spam?   Just a random thought.

Someone's hubby had found a phone # for cakecentral, called & got a message machine, was going to try again - what happened to that?

And back on the subject of other sites that have bit the dust anyone remember "LadyCakes" site.   That's the one I remember most.

I am thinking that the featured contents must be set up to change seasonally automatically.

The other site that I remember, still shows up on line but has been dead for years, is Cake Decorating Corner.  I guess the owners just get tired of them and abandon them.
