I'm going to OSSAS this year!! Since I'm missing ICES you better believe I'm going to one of them. I talked to Kerry Vincent about a month ago & she said I must come! I wrote that like we're best buddies didn't I?
LOL!! We're not close friends but we do know each other from ICES & we do exchange emails from time to time. I love her to death! When I see some stupid idiotic topic concerning sugar arts on CC that doesn't make one bit of sense to me, I write her & ask her what she thinks. She always straightens it out for me. IMHO Kerry's answer is always right It's way cheaper to go to OSSAS that's for sure. There's always a bunch of cakers from Shreveport/Bossier that goes. I've never been so I'm looking forward to it. OK is kinda center of the USA.... Hint, hint!!
We are still in discussions about which one we will go to. Since ICES is coming up quickly and hubby still hasn't made up his mind, OSSAS looks like more of a possibility. My girls and I said we are going to that one for sure and making it a girl's road trip and leaving the guys here!

Although I don't post too often, I used to follow the threads alot. So glad to see all of these familiar names. You were all my go to people. If I needed to know something or had a question I knew I could follow your threads and get the adivce I was looking for. So glad to see you all back! Ahhhh....the good ol' days of CC...((sigh))

Kathy, No way am I doing a cake for OSSAS! I'm not good enough & gosh that paperwork is crazy! I started looking it over & got a headache! But yes, I am hopefully going this year. It will be my 1st time.
Here I am! I don't post as much. I sometimes get frustrated w/the drama etc, but do log in at least once a day or more. Love this sight. I am paying for another sight, but don't use it like I should. Creature of habit and time. Happy rest of the summer. Doubt if most of you remember me!

Gosh, it feels like old home week! I don't get to get on as much since company is cracking down on internet usage and nights and weekends are making cakes and working on getting legal (was going to open a shop but put that on hold right now). I got tired of the bickering and drama too and got afraid to post anything. It seems to have calmed down now...mostly.
I am going to OSSAS and really looking forward to it. I got to meet several people in Austin and I hope to meet more at OSSAS. TC, you can definitely show a cake in OSSAS. I'm planning on 4 cakes at OSSAS but we'll see what happens as I get closer.
It's great to see all of you guys still alive and kicking! Join us more often, we miss you guys!

Oh my goodness...I AM still around too. I do tune in to see what's going on but I just can't spend the time I'd like to anymore although I still highlight a "How to" video when they're available or I'll let you know where I am going to be teaching just in case we have the opportunity to meet. I'm thrilled to say that I have had the pleasure of meeting so many CC'ers now and by the end of 2010 hope that I will have met 10 times more! I make sure anyone who comes to my classes knows about Cake Central....can you believe some of the population still don't know? A fabulously successful site....I'm not going anywhere.

Well, I've been here awhile....am I considered old? Tcturtleshell, I think you were one of the first people to comment on one of my cakes. I'll have to go back and look. Wow, I was SO thrilled to the great reaction to the first cake I posted here. That seems so long ago!
I FEEL old...at least right now. But, that's because I've been stripping wallpaper, cleaning walls and steam cleaning furniture. My daughter just bought her first house. If it's her house how come I'm hurting so badly???

I think all of us "oldies" have really come a long way! I know I did! I didn't know how to ice a cake smooth until CC. Thanks to calidawn! Do ya'll remember her? I still keep in touch with her!

I know I have come a long way from the way I did cakes almost 30 years ago If it hadn't been for so many members (many of the oldies) on CC, I wouldn't have tried stuff like, making things out of fondant and gumpaste, using viva.
Thanks to many of them I have learn so much, things I didn't know or wouldn't have even tried. I remember seeing her name (calidawn), before in post....but I think it was long ago.
Whats so funny (odd) for me is that everytime I have been gone for a while and come back, I feel like a newbie again

I have the application right here. The form and payment must be received by Friday, September 18, so you still have plenty of time. Thank you for the sweet compliment. I see so many flaws with every cake but I'm trying to overlook them and keep learning.
I sent mine registration and payment in probably a month or so ago and registered for the class with the 3 J's, James Rosselle, Joshua Russell and Jason Ellis. I haven't heard that it was received and I've emailed them twice but haven't heard anything. I'm planning to do 4 cakes, we'll see how that goes. I hope to see you there!

I think a great many of us that have been members for quite some time have taken a big step backward because of all the fighting, name calling, drama starting, etc. etc. etc. Who needs more of that, right? I know I am rarely on lately unless someone sends me a PM.
