It will look fab when it's done, when I did the pirate ship I thought it looked rubbish but once the SP went on it looked completely different. Can't wait to see it.

Jean - I'm late to the conversation but as Tiddy said - the front needs to be a bit longer.  I am into cars (went to Goodwood and everything!) and I think that if you elongate the front a bit, you will see the Ferrari more.

Ok here's the result. I cut back the windshield and added some cake to the front bumper to elongate the front. I'm going to quit now as I think I've managed all I can in terms of shape (I hope?).

So do you think these are my next steps:

Make the wheels, side view mirror and other details. Set aside to dry

Place black SP on the windshield, windows, bumper and those things in the back.

Cover with red SP, once fixed into place, start cutting out the windows and other areas where I put black SP.

Add the premade details like wheels etc.

changed my mind about the black sp- thinking of just painting the windshield on several coats to get a proper black.

I think the shape looks great Jean.  I think you will be really pleased when it's detailed.

Thanks Kathy!

I'm much happier about it now it's covered in SP. I bought Renshaw red- I didn't have time to make homemade. I'm busy planning the party as well- hubby's best friend and wife are coming. It's a surprise so it's a bit difficult planning things when hubby's around all the time. All he knows is he's getting a cake! I'm terrible at parties- never know what to serve!

Thanks everyone for the encouragement!

Kathy, apart from spring rolls, I'm cooking everything else! At least I've cooked the dishes loads of times so it's just a matter of organisation. I'm back from Tesco and having a quick snack then attacking the car again. I'm hoping to finish it before the school run, but not looking likely now! Tomorrow I'm cooking most of the day.

I am pleased with this cake actually it's the first one in ages I have actually liked and not been too stressed about getting right (if that makes sense lol) I started with chocolate but that weren't drying think my kitchen was too warm so in the end I used royal icing and made it really thick and gloopy. That's the only downside to parties is having to cook everything

Chezzabelle that's great!  I am so jealous now of all these cakes.....I am working full time and so want to get stuck in...  What did you use for the stick bit?

Jean - I honestly take my hat off to you.  It must be a cakey thing - we either seem to take on everything all at once or nothing.

The aero cake survived the jour we surprisingly. My brother loved it and everyone loved the taste of it so that was good. It was a very stodgy cake, more brownie like than cakey really. I did like it though, I would worry that if people weren't as cake/chocolate/sweat mad as my lot though that someone might think it was an under cooked cake as it did kind of look like that. Went down a treat though.

Lovely car Jean it's looking good. As people have said I think the corners just need to be more rounded and it will look amazing.

I'm the same suga, I couldn't sell a mud cake as I'm sure people would think it was underbaked and poke it like Mr Holywood saying "it's raw!" lol but so yummy like a giant brownie... Great for home use... The white one is a lot more cake like you should try it :-)

Argh Mia saw the cake! I have bribed her with a ton of sweets so that she doesn't say anything to the hubby. So much for all the secrecy! I said she'll get a special treat on saturday if she doesn't say anything. Cross fingers!

AWell one cake is covered, cake lace on, not happy with it as it's a bit bubbly, 2nd cake (GF) is crumbcoat ed and in the fridge, for now, very soft cake, even putting the crumb on it was tearing the cake up.

You know sometimesvyou have a gut feeling things aren't gonna turn out good?

The white one does sound delicious. I think I will give that one a go in the new year when I have a bit of time to play again.

Chezza love your anti gravity cake. They're fun to make aren't they? Well they are when things start going your way but not when you're fighting trying to attach aero balls to a bubble straw and every time you stick one on another falls off!

Sorry I've not been on here much lately I've just been so busy. But you know that big holiday I've been harping on about all year? Well it's only 36 hours away!!! Eeeeh so exciting but sooooo much to do...
