Hi Fiddle & Grandma
These bottles are like an average wine bottle and are usually about $6.00 each. We have a large liquor store here and when they have their big sticker sale, these syrups are $1.00 each. Wish I could send you both a truck load as they are really great for so many things, and the flavors are endless.

Fiddle--it has been a terribly hot, wet and busy summer so haven't been around much but now that I have my new computer and high speed, I will be here more. Miss all of you and the chat here.

Smoothiemeover.com has them on-line plus the Torani Syrups. Right now they have free shipping on orders or $100.00 or more, so it's a good time to stock up. I have been using half Torani or Monin syrup depending on the flavor I want and half club soda to replace the water in a recipe. Like the taste and texture. May play with the ratio some more.

I have to use less sugar if I use the Torani unless I use the sugar free. How sugary are the Monin?
I see Torani has a new sweet bacon flavor! That might be interesting!

Hi all,
as I mentioned back a couple posts, I am new to cakecentral and am on page60 of this cup cake post--I plan on continuing to read the whole post as I am learning so much from all of you! You are all incredible and so generous in helping others. Since I have not read this whole thread yet, I'm wondering if anyone knows where I can find the famous bettercreme? I live in Massachusetts and was wondering if anyone knew?
I am tyring to start up a cake/cupcake business on the side and thanks to all of you, I am trying different recipes and decorating techniques to help build my confidence. I worked in a local grocery stores 11 years ago as a cake decorator for 7 years---left the business and 11 years later I miss it so much and want to do this on the side. I have been bringing samples into work and was wondering if anyone has any advice......

thank you!

I would call Rich's Food Service and ask where your supplier might be. I've heard that sometimes you can get someone pretty rude but when I called they were really helpful. I guess it depends on who you get on the phone. (800) 356-7094

Don't know about your area but I get mine at Gordons Food service.
If you have one of those you might want to check there!

thanks Grandma & fiddlesticks. I actually called the 1-800 # and I was able to get someone who was very nice. He suggested that I contact a food distributor named Sysco in my area. The closest location is 50 minutes away from my home. I am on vacation this week but will try to get by there next week when I head back to work. It is quite difficult to fnd that stuf.....thank you for your help!

Grandma--I think that the Monin syrups are probably as sugary, but I haven't noticed it in the cupcakes. I am going to try the club soda trick as I think that might add a lot of lift to the cakes. I sure am hooked on the Betty Crocker cake mixes with these syrups. They hold up and don't fall using the 3 whole eggs and the syrups or liquid coffee creamers, and I love the texture.

Sorry, but I gave the club soda credit to Grandma instead of All4Show. Just getting really old some days icon_biggrin.gif
She uses half syrup and half club soda in her cakes to replace the water called for. On the other hand, why not just forget the cakes entirely and add the club soda to some good liquor and put it over ice!!!!!!!!!

Way back in the beginning of this post, someone suggested using Torani flavoring syrup in the cupcakes, frosting, bettercreme, etc. So today while I was out, I stopped at the liquor store and they had no idea what I was talking about. I thought someone said that it could be picked up there. So I went to walmart and there I found the Torani with the coffee mate. Unfortunately, they only had vanilla & hazelnut. They had sugar free chocolate, raspberry and vanilla, but didn't want to try it, because it was fully stocked as if nobody was buying them. Is this the same sort of syrup that you are speaking about?

Let me know how the club soda works out....interesting.

I ended up picking up the hazelnut--it was $4.25 a bottle. I'm hoping to experiement with some cupcakes this weekend to bring to work on monday.

Has anyone tried they syrups with SMBC?
I have not yet tried SMBC and would like to try with the hazelnut.....

thanks! usaribbon.gif

Countrygirl-----It was the Monin syrups that I find in the liquor stores. I don't know why the grocery stores don't carry them, but maybe if enough people ask they will start. Sorry for any confusion.

I've found them at World Market, TJ Maxx & now our Walmart carries common flavors in the small bottles. There are also DaVinci syrups & other brands as well

thank you all so much for you help. I never thought TJ Maxx....wow...I will have to check that out. Now that I know what I'm looking for, I will keep my eyes open a bit more. I am very much of a home-body and do not like to shop, so when I do go out shopping, I'm on a mission.

Cookies4kids--no need to apologize, I will check for the Monin syrups next time I'm in the liquor store.

Are you all finding the syrups at walmart in the coffee section?? The closet walmart to me is a super walmart, and I'm guessing if they don't carry it, then the regular walmarts may not because they have even less food in those.

I made some buttercream frosting last evening and used a little of my torani hazelnut----oh my, was it delicious. I'm thinking about using that next week to bring some cupcakes into work. Does anyone have any suggestions?

have a great weekend! And thank you all again so much.....

I have 50 cupcakes to make for a friends suprise bridal shower. I am making 25 chocolate with peanut butter mousse filling and 25 vanilla with white chocolate raspberry ganache filling all with vanilla buttercream frosting. Her flowers for the wedding are a deep purple so I made dark purple flowers to go on top.

SPCC...
Would love to see pictures if you can....and also would love to know how you make the peanut butter mousse and white chocolate raspberry ganache.

How many people here use ganache on their cupcakes? I've read that a lot of people prefer to use this instead of frosting...... I don't believe I've ever tried it and am going to have to find a recipe and try it......

I haven't tried the white chocolate raspberry ganache yet but I am whipping it and using it as filling in the cupcake.
