Welcome back katie - isn't it nuts how each pregnancy is different!

Michelle - I think you should go to the doc about your foot also...

Susan - wow that must have been a hard welcome home.

OK so I went to the neurologist on Friday. He ruled out migraines and doesn't think my back was related (my dh and mom were very worried about that). He prescribed me an antidepressant using it for preventative pain relief. Basically he said he thinks some levels in my brain/head are low (confirming I'm a lil crazy hahaha kidding) and that this med should bring them back up. I am to start at 10mg for a week and if it doesn't help go up to 20 for a week and so on until I get to 50 (he said normal dosage of this med is 300mg so I'm taking a very minimal amount). In 2 months I go back to tell him my progress and/or lack there of and he might do an mri then depending on how well the meds work. So far nothing but I take the med at bedtime so have only taken 3 but I had a HORRIBLE headache last night so bad my eyes were watering and I just wanted to let loose and cry - I went to bed even though I wasn't tired just so that my eyes were relaxed also kwim. This am I woke up to a more intense than normal headache but not as bad as last night (they aren't normally tooo bad in the am).

I did work out still today despite the headache - I am REALLY trying to not fall off the boat again. I can tell that my abs have loosened up again from all the work I did before amazing it takes no time to screw it up but forever to get it that way! UGH...

Connie, I am so sorry for the headaches that are STILL happening. I am not sure that I could wait for 2 months or an MRI! If they hurt me so badly that I want to cry I would be in demanding something more.

I had a great day with my foot on Saturday and Sunday, it didnt hurt at all, but today it does again a little. I will see what happens between today and Wednesday, that will be the two week mark. I then will go see my podiatrist.

Ok our challenge for the rest of the week will be either the SP butt blaster work out or their ab work out. The ab one is 15 min, the butt one is 6 min.

Ab work out

Sorry that I am making just one more addition to your challenges this week, however my next class starting tomorrow is Business Law and I took a peek at the syllabus and OH BOY I am very frightened!!! I have a feeling that I will be kept very busy trying to understand it all!!!

I will make time to check in everyday though!!!

OK gotta run and do some work

Just have a relaxing weekend, Monday there will be a fitness challange.

Lets all cheer loud and proud

Michelle, I love it!
sorry to hear about your foot, nothing worse then having to function when your feet hurt. Hey, if I want Hot Wings, I have them just not too many, then I don't feel deprived and it gives me incentive to be good. HTH
Connie, hope the antideprssants help. I've be one them for a couple years and once the dose was right, they almost disapeered, although mine were migraines. They are hard to diagnois sometimes, so keep asking for anwsers. Hope you feel better.
Susan, thank God! I hate cleaning the basement, glad I won't have to every week, lol!
Katie, congratulations on the new little one, maybe this one will be a girl since it is such a different pregnancy. Good Luck.
Had a relaxing family weekend. Annual city festival, fireworks, etc. I was good, didn't eat the normal festival food (went after dinner and it seemed to work). Sun, sent DH and kids back to festival, and floated in the pool all be my self. AHHHH summer.

WOW that butt exercise looks PAINFUL in such a good way I will be sure to do it later today when I'm not knee deep in Laundry (Monday's are my big laundry day - I'm on my 5th or 6th right now w/ 1 more to put in the wash once these are ready)

Hi everyone! Sorry I have been absent for a couple of days. I was busy with cakes too. And DH was out of town, actually out of the country (Mexico) for work. So I didn't have tons of down time.

Sorry to hear that your headaches aren't subsiding, connie. I hope the meds start to work better for you.

Glad to hear from you Katie. I hope you too, feel better! I certainly don't miss early pregnancy!

Hi Friends,
Not much going on here, I'm so sorry to hear about Michelle's aches and Connie's pains. I hope both of you feel better soon soon soon! Uh Michelle...no way on those exercises! My hat is off to those of you who can do them with ease!

It's lunchtime and I'm at my desk eating canned beans (not directly from the can, I'm not that hungry!) because I forgot my lunch. Doesn't happen very often, but sometimes that old age memory rears its ugly head. So at least now I have my dinner made! And thank goodness for keeping an emergency stock of food nearby. For dinner I"ll be having guacamole with a fresh tomato mixed in on low cal sandwich bread, one of my summertime favorites.

And can I just say? I know how lucky I am to live where I live and been able to travel where I've traveled, I'm truly blessed. And...I'm SO ready to return to the States. It's probably because I know I'm doing it that makes me feel even more ready, but I'm ready! I sent my boss my resignation letter yesterday and that helps it feel a bit more real. My last day will be Dec 15, I sent the letter early because it takes time to find someone to move over here (usually no problem, everyone wants to live in Italy), and they have to get a passport, work visa, etc, before they arrive. I'm looking forward to hanging out with my friends and family and starting a new job. I'm looking forward to going to huge bookstores with English language books, I'm looking forward to going to craft stores and clothing stores instead of ordering everything, waiting a couple of weeks, and paying shipping charges. I know I'm giving up a lot (the least of which is a salary, LOL), but after 6 years here, I'm ready. I hope some of us can meet up someday!

well susan, it sounds like you are ready! Where will you be moving back to? Do you have a job lined up for when you get back?

Your guacamole sounds so yummy. Recently I have been making it quite often. I decided that I love it. I wish there wasnt so much fat in it. What is up with avacado having so much fat? icon_mad.gif It is a vegetable for pete's sake! Oh well, I guess it is supposed to be the "good fat" though. The tortilla chip I eat it with aren't though LOL!

My dad and DH are off to Indiana to pick up a commercial refrigerator and freezer for my business. As long as they check out I got a really good deal. the guy bought them new last year and only had them plugged in for a couple of weeks. So like new at 50% off. I feel bad taking advantage of the guy, I guess he and his wife were going to open a restaurant and his wife fell ill shortly after, so they decided not to. I am excited though, now i have almost all of my equipement that I got at a fraction of the cost of what I thought it would be.

Also exciting today, a good friend of mine is coming to visit with her girls. they used to live close, but moved last year to Florida. And today is my youngest son's birthday! He is 3! wow! So we are going to Chuck E Cheese for dinner. He is excited. party.gif

Morning all!

Susan, I am glad that you are looking forward to coming back to the states. I nver thought of the difficulties in getting what we take for granted over here.

Merissa, I would not be caught dead in a Chuck E Cheese, even when my daughter was little. I am one who cannot take all of the noise and running around. I like quiet and peace.

I am sorry to hear of everyone's aches and pains. I guess I am lucky that my only pain is work. And not having been able to take a good breath for six years now. Yes, air quality in Pittsburgh is that bad.

Well, I guess it's that time. I have to get to work now.

Good Morning
Susan you sound very ready to come back, I have to say what an adventure you must have had living in Italy but I can see wanting to be back 'home'. I couldn't live there I would go crazy w/o my family all around so kudos to you for going for that life experience!

Merissa - CEC you are a BRAVE soul! Are you just going up to CEC for fun w/ your son OR are you having thebirthday party there? If it's the party WOW I pray for you! I don't go to CEC w/o a back up team! LOL

My head has been hurting pretty bad yesterday and I woke up that way again today -sigh. BUT I still worked out yesterday and cleaned like a crazy person. I'm waiting for my breakfast to digest a little before I go and work out again today (I'm going to ATTEMPT the sparklepeople butt exercise that was posted) Just watching it I felt the burn so I can only imagine but I will push thru 6minutes... I can do that LMAO (I hope)

Good morning everyone

I did the butt one this morning and it did burn by the time I was done. I will be doing a few of the ones I found on SP that do not require me to be on my feet.

I am going to make a dr's apt for my foot today, I wanted to go to my foot guy, but we changed insurances this year and he is not contracted with our new insurance. That sucks I really liked him. Now I have to go to my regular dr!!! OH OH OH I just realized I was searching wrong, he is on my insurance. I will call this morning hopefully I can get in today!!

Susan you do sound ready to come back, I wish you luck on your move back, I do hope we can all somehow get together. I sometimes get to TX for work, perhaps one time I will not be too far from you, although I usually dont get a car.

Merissa have fun tonight, it is so loud in there, but the kids have so much fun. We go to Peter Piper Pizza (kind of like CEC without the entertainment, just the games. We go so that DBFs nephew can play, we have fun watching him!!

Connie I sure hope you have some relief very soon, you are one strong person!!!!

Ok gotta run and get some work done.

Reminder NO CHEAT DAY tomorrow!

I ate more than intended icon_cry.gif ! It actually wasnt bad, but maybe my problem was that I was really hungry by the time I got there. We had a fun time, however, my oldest set his cup of tokens down to go up in that play structure thing (the tubes and slides) and someone took his them! I said it was his first lesson in keeping an eye on your stuff!

Then when it was almost time to go, we couldnt find my middle son's shoes. He had put them in one of the cubbies and they were gone. I looked all over and finally I went over to one of the employees and asked if people ever went in there and took shoes (it is in a mall). She said no...but there was a big group of people almost out the door and I spotted some kid wearing them! I think it was likely an honest mistake (because he only looked about 3 and he left his shoes there). Still though it was aggravating.

There also was this girl about 10 or so going by each table looking in the cups (where you keep the tokens) I think she was looking to "find" some laying around. Then she went up to a lady obviously playing and asked if the tickets coming out of the machine were hers. Hmmmm....I wonder who swiped my son's tokens....it is a mystery.....Her mom was rude too, bumping on of our friend's daughters out of the way who was still playing the game, telling her to "move."

ahhhh chuck e cheese.

Merissa, way Downriver from you, Dearborn, MI, same CEC types here. My sons jacket disapeered from the back of his chair. Had to take him home in mine. Of course no one turned it in, checked several times for days later. Gotta wonder whats wrong with parents sometimes.
Connie, gosh I feel for you. Just thinking back to all mine. Have you tried and allergist, chiropractor? Also some home remedies that helped me a great deal, rubbing Vicks on the area of pain (I know it sounds weird but it helps) and also icepacks. Hope you find relief.

Connie, I am so sorry you are still having these headaches. I really hope you find something that works for you soon!

Merissa what an awful CEC experience. I only going during the day when it is quiet...very nice. I went to a b-day party once on a Sat afternoon, never again. I lost Emily (only 2) like 3 times.

Susan you sound so ready to come back home. I'm not sure how you did 6 years, an extended vacation there would be nice but if I go anywhere for more than 10 days I am ready to come home!

Katie I hope pregnancy gets better for you! I was lucky and didn't get sick once with either of mine but the nausesness was out of control! Just take it easy and take care of yourself!!!!

A meet up of some kind would be nice. We should set a date in the future so we can start saving or something....I vote for Vegas =D

Michelle I hope you can get your foot fixed up. I was feeling pretty good about mine and then we went for a bike ride today and my progress has taken a step back.

DH is on a healthy kick...woo hoo. We both want to be healthy so we can age gracefully but history doesn't show great promise for dh future so he really wants to do this. We're going to buy an elliptical trainer for home and a nautalis (sp?) system with lat pulldown...which usually includes some kind of leg exercise.

I'm a totaly geek...I failed at the challenge. No butt exercises for me. SORRY!

I had a pretty good time with my family this weekend. They shopped (me along with them) for about 5-6 hrs on Fri. and Sat.... I was pooped. Then we made perogies on Sun...that's always a chore and so not healthy.

Not looking forward to tomorrow's weigh in, the outlook is not good for me but we will see!

Helloooooo Merissa, can you hear me?? I just remember never being able to hear well after being at CEC!

Casey, the interesting part for me is that I feel like I'm home here. I have such a wandering spirit that it takes me about a week anywhere to feel I'm home, so this has been my home for the past 6 years. It's really my friends and family I miss because they aren't near "my home" so I'm moving near their homes! Yes, I feel very American, I don't mean that, I just feel I could truly live almost anywhere and feel I was home. Now, when we start talking about conveniences offered in the States and language barriers, that's a much different story! Those are frustrations to me, but I still feel home. Last night I went to an Italian movie, meaning I spoke and listened in Italian a lot yesterday. My brain was kind of spinning when I got home at 11:00 and this morning I woke up with a pounding headache. Those are the kind of things I won't miss...stretching my brain to places it doesn't want to go!!

Good morning everyone

I did not weigh in today, however I did weigh myself this past weekend so I will take that one and I had gained 4 pounds. I expected this because I have not worked out in over a month (and wont for another month, but more on that next) and I have not been that good about my eating.

I went to the Dr yesterday and I did break my little toe, I have to wrap it up in tape and wear a little black shoe for a month, then we will asses it to see what I can do.

I agree and vote for Vegas for our meet up!!!

Merissa, you do have to watch their clothes closely, I know we just keep them with us at the table while the kids are playing!! sorry about your experience, although some people are so rude it is amazing!!

Well today I pass on the cheerleader toarch, just not sure who is next.

Gotta get to work now.

Susan wow I just keep thinking of all of that yummy food at your disposal! I'm a sucker for anything pasta pretty much.

Well, I worked out again today - I was going to do the butt exercise again but my legs are already shaking so that isn't going to happen. I have saved it to my favorites for days when I don't have enough time to do a full workout but I can throw in a little one.

side note - I just got a letter in the mail w/ my daughters first day of school info. OMG I am SO not ready for her to start Pre-K ACK, she is beyond excited but Mommy is NOT ready. I know my son will miss her TERRIBLY while she's gone they are VERY close. She will be going 3 days a week (really it's 2 full days and a 1/2 day) but what will I do w/ myself. My goal is to have time to really sit down w/ my son so that he'll have his alphabet down before he starts (my dd can write her first and last name and knows and can write all the letters some she has some problems w/ or she forgets but heck she's 4). Anyway, just having my babies growing up moment LOL...

I hope everyone has a good day

ok so it's me this week - I know I struggle w/ this b/c well my dh LOVES desserts but we don't want the kids to have too much junk so we tend to eat them after they go to bed. BAD BAD BAD I KNOW.
SOOO I have a rule no desserts after 9 and lately I have been REALLY slacking on that.

So the goal for this WHOLE week for all of us is not to have any desserts after a certain time (that you set - I have mine set for 2 hours before I go to bed).

Isn't it sad when our little ones grow up. I said I wouldn't cry on my sons first day of school but I did...now he's six and going into grade 1 icon_cry.gif

Susan family is a huge reason why I can't go any further than Oregon. dh wants to move to TN so bad but that is way too far from my family.

Michelle that really sucks about your toe hope it heals well!

I forgot to weigh myself before eating and coffee so I'm not going to count this terrible weigh in. Maybe I'll remember tomorrow!

Morning all,

Just checking in. I took the last couple days off work. Wednesday Hubby was supposed to get his dental surgery but they were not prepared and we had to go back yesterday.

It scared me to death when he came out of the dentist's office. His mouth is swollen and he bled for two solid hours and then overnight some. I guess he is feeling a bit better today but I had to come in to work. Couldn't get the day off.

I am doing so bad with my eating recently. Back to one meal a day, and not even a balanced meal. I have to stop and think about my eating plan again.

Good morning all
I found this quote and thought it was pretty good. Lets all believe we can succeed! It may not be as fast as we would like it to be, but it will happen if we believe!!!

Man often becomes what he believes himself to be.
if I keep on saying to myself
that I cannot do a certain thing,
it is possible that I may end
by really becoming incapable of doing it.
On the contrary,
if I have the belief that I can do it,
I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it,
even if I may not have it at the beginning.

~ Mahatma Gandhi ~

Morning ladies - I am having a rough day well started last night my headache got REALLY bad about 4:30 yesterday afternoon and I got some relief but not alot I couldn't sleep last night didn't go to bed until 1 this am no matter how hard I tried. Today I'm still hurting pretty good not as bad as last night but if I stay on this path tonight will be just as bad as last night (evenings seem to be worse than mornings).
Needless to say I didn't work out this am but I'm not going to beat myself up about it I worked out 4 days this week and that is pretty good. I ate 1/2 pint of ice cream last night BUT it was before my 9pm rule so I did ok icon_biggrin.gif

GOALS for today/ weekend:
To something that relaxes you - read a book, take a bubble bath, sit in a dark room whatever you do to destress DO IT we all seem to have stresses going on right now and that is only going to make it harder to reach our goals SO relax just do it (sorry pulled from my 80's youth there)....

Remember the no desserts after 9 rule or no snacks however you interpreted that rule.... HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND and REGROUP!

Connie...ouch! I can't imagine living with the pain you've experienced recently. Is it possible you have an allergy to something?

And Michelle, no wonder your foot hurts!! I think toes heal pretty well when you immobilize them by taping and not walking too much, I hope you feel better soon.

Not much going on here tonight, I'm blessedly at home and keep wanting to pinch myself for 2 whole days off coming up! It'll be nice to not set the alarm tomorrow. I'm going to try to not be such a couch potato, but besides being exhausted, it sure is hot here, so I don't htink being outside is much on my schedule. I refuse to feel guilty about it!

Have a fabulous weekend...

Your poor husband Karen, that sounds terrible. Hope that was the worst of it for your dh.

Michelle love the quote, reminds me not to speak so negatively to myself. You may not be able to work out extensively but some sit ups...squats (keeping the pressure off your toe), weights, something like that might work for you and give you satisfaction.

Connie so sorry about your headaches. Not being able to sleep sucks. Hope you're feeling better today.

I had a kid free night last night. They had a sleepover at my sisters. We went out to dinner with the intention of being good but I don't think pasta and fried calamari and chocolate cake count. Now we are getting ready for a kid free bike ride...woo hoo. We're going to do a 20 mile trail in the mountains....the downhill portion =D

That cake is beautiful, Merissa!

I don't know how you do it. I just finished one for my niece and hated it (I was the only one). I really wish I had gone to a bakery and had them do the design.

Hubby's surgery is all over and that is what was keeping us here. He felt so much better today that he even skipped the vicadin (sp) for the pain. I wonder how much of it is the same type of stubbornness that made me skip the pain medication after my c-section. He is still fairly swollen, though, and did have some more infection starting in his one tooth.

Well, talk to you all on Monday. I will be away from a computer for the weekend. Unless I stop by the library.

Have a good weekend all. Hope all of our aches and pains are better!
