Okay the results are in...

Well I met my first goal of not walking, but I didnt meet my second goal of under 30 minutes like I had hoped. I finished in 30:43. I was HATING the race every step of the way! LOL! I was so tired and I wanted to stop and walk so many times. But I knew that one of my friend's was right next to me and she would be mad if I stopped. Afterward she told me she felt the same way and would have stopped if I had! I was passed by SO MANY PEOPLE! It literally has taken about 4 hours for me to have recovered from this race. I don't really understand why since I have been doing that distance for awhile now. It's a pretty good time for me, but the only thing i can really come up with is that it is possibly the fastest I have run outside (rather than on the flat treadmill). Now that I am not DYING, I guess it wasnt so bad. But during the race I was telling myself that I would never do it again.

After having triplets, I lost all my weight. It took me 2 years. I lost 100 pounds! I use to weight 211 pounds post pregnancy and now weigh 110. 115 during when I have PMS. I am 5' 6"

I kept a journal of everything that I ate.

I bake organic cakes for family and friends.

I followed the weight watchers point program and also stayed away from junk food including candies, pastries and cakes. I only taste one "tiny" bite
if I am baking a cake for friends and family. I only bake with natural ingredients-no artifical or processed ingredients.

If you want to loose weight I recommend weight watchers but be sure to check with your health cake provider if you plan on going on any diet.

It took me 2 years to get this weight off.

My weight watcher coordinator has a quote" any junk food that passes through your lips expands your tummy and your hips".

Keep on moving! I walk and swim everyday!

Congratulations on your loss. Are you joining our group? We each seem to have ways that work for us individually. I think weight loss behavior comes when you're physically, mentally, and emotionally ready. It's a hard job...certainly one I wish I didn't have to take on.

Merissa, how are you recovering? Do you still feel the same way about running another one? I think you can now wear a button: "I ran a race!"

Happy Monday to all...

Well done, buntdiva!

Susan, how about a progress photo?? We're dying to see how thin you're becoming!

Well my hubby (yes, the same one that has the bad back...) took my 7 year old son 4wheel driving on Sunday, and they got badly stuck in sand. They were stuck there for 24 hours - miles from anybody, and with only a packet of chips to eat! They slept in the ute (it's the middle of winter here!!). Fortunately they had phone reception and kept me informed. He actually enjoyed himself.....sometimes I think I'm living with a mad man!

boy sonia, I am glad that everything is okay with your DH and DS! Good thing they had communication!

Awesome for you buntdiva!! Very inspiring!

I am still recovering from my race, LOL! I am not a sore as yesterday. I don't really know what went wrong. I have run that far before, I am not sure why it was so hard this time??? There is another 5K coming up next month that seems like a killer (a couple of big hills). Now i am scared and I don't know if I want to do it. I think I lost my confidence. I mean I COULD walk if I had to. I dont know.

Merissa, 30:43 is a great time for your first race, and not that far off of your goal. congratualtions! I really think you talked yourself into the race being so hard. Or maybe it was just that people were "watching." How's the foot?

Carol. Hope your headache is better? I think you should go see the doctor about it.

Lori, congratulations on your new niece. Glad to hear she is gaining weight.

Sonia, How's everything going? So glad to hear that your hubby and son were none the worse for wear after their experience. I do think all men are madmen.

Bundtdiva, congrats on the wieight loss! Thanks for the tips. Are you joing the group or just checking in?

Susan, I think we are going to be without home internet service until we move. Comcast made a mistake and turned the internet off and not just the phone and cable. I think hubby is going to leave it off and just not have that bill. Gives us more money to save for our move, which is going to be in August, I think.

So sorry I have not been on, but you have had an extra couple days to consider your weight loss goals and strategies.

Today, I want you to look at those strategies and actually IMPLEMENT them. Whatever you wrote in your jornal, today is the day to start to put your plan into action. Mine is to eat the small meals every three hours and drink my water. I will have to find a thought for today later. Right now I have to make up for Friday and do all of my dictation for tomorrow.

Sonia, first of all, I can't believe that about your DH and son and secondly, I'm laughing! What a picture! There's no way I woulda enjoyed that!

I'll get my good friend Melanie to take my photo when she returns at the end of the week from a vacation in Malta (poor Melanie, she had to spend a week in Malta...not!). I don't think I look that much different though, I've only lost about 13 pounds from my last photo and because I have so much to go, I don't think it's really showing yet. But I'll let you know after I put it on my Spark page...

IMPLEMENT them...yes! It seems so obvious...yet it seems like the hardest part. I feel like I am all talk no action! LOL.

So do you have a new place picked out Karen? Where in FL will you go? Has your home sold? Sorry, I might have missed you telling us before.

My foot felt pretty good during the race actually. It was a little sore yesterday, but not bad. I agree, my time was pretty good for me. Really it probably was one of the fastest for me. I think I am just disappointed that it felt much harder than I anticipated. I was disappointed that I didnt enjoy it more. I think I was hoping that maybe it would become a bit of a hobby for me. Then it would keep me motivated to continue running. All that said, I am happy that I did it. I always used to say that I wasnt a runner. I never was able to even run a mile before. So I proved it to myself that I could do it. Do I want to do it again though????

Karen that's great your moving so soon. You were talking like it'd be next year.

Bundtdiva that's awesome you were able to lose all that weight. Congrats!

I leave for Florida soon, it should be fun but I am not looking forward to a nine hour flight with my kids!

Casey - my husband NEVER asks for help!! Not until he gets to desperation stage. So he tried several different tactics to get himself out, and when it got too dark they just "set up camp" and thought about their next plan of attack. He finally got home last night at midnight. He was very tired!

Thanks for that challenge, Karen. You're right - today I will implement my strategies!

Goodness Casey, for that flight time, you could almost visit me! I'm really looking forward to not making that long flight to visit friends and family after December.

Today's my No Cheat day. So far, so good and I think I can stick to everything I need to, it's all planned out. I'm actually up a bit on the scale, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the weigh in tomorrow. I made a big cake over the weekend, but didn't go wild with eating it, I only tasted a very small piece at the party...but of course, I also "tested" some left over batter and had hot chicken wings on Sunday! Hmmm...that could definitely be a lesson learned!

Casey a 9 hour flight good luck w/ that!

Well, I still have my headache but it has eased up from where it was thank goodness! I was about to go nuts!
Sorry I didn't come on yesterday I was a laundry queen plus I cleaned out 2 closets and have a big stash of stuff to donate to good will now.

My meals haven't been great BUT I have slowed down my desserts! That was my biggest goal I had gotten to where I was having an ice cream sundae or milk and cookies like 3x a week. SO now I have set the rule NOTHING to eat after 9pm. That way I can still have a dessert after the kids go to bed BUT I have to do it quickly or else I'm not allowed to have it. I even eatch dh eat sherbert last night and I didn't even take a bite.

Dh mentioned that its better to focus on one thing per day exercise wise so I think I might try that. The dvd I have does everything in an hour and dh mentioned it might be best if I focus on abs say 3x week and arms/legs 2x a week or something like that. Maybe I'd see results that way. I have just been so discouraged lately b/c before I was SO focused w/ exercising and what I ate and I didn't see results even after several months. SO it's making it SO hard for me to get back on the ban wagon so I'm going to try this HOPEFULLY it works!

Whoa...I found a delicious sounding recipe on Sparkpeople for baked sweet potato "fries" with ginger, red pepper, and a few other things. Sounded like just what I was craving for and didn't know it. So I went to the Italian grocery store to buy potatoes. Conversation: "I'm looking for sweet potatoes, can you tell me where they are? Ma'am, there's no such thing as a sweet potato. I'll show you where the potatoes are. No, I'm specifically looking for sweet potatoes. Ma'am, do you mean potatoes that you put sugar on? Noooo, I mean sweet potatoes! The ones that are orange with a thick outer covering? Ma'am, I've never heard of those, I think you are mistaken. Do you have the correct name?" Arrrghhh....So I bought red potatoes that are the same shape as sweet potatoes, not the little round new potatoes that we think of when we think about red potatoes.

So I cooked them and boy were they good! Except I put waaaay too much red pepper on them and they were so hot, I was sweating! The good thing is I drank a lot of water afterward!

Actually, I forgot the funniest part...I thought maybe she wasn't understanding me because of my accent...Italian is definitely not my first language. So I do the silly thing, I start speaking slowly and loudly. And when she kept saying she didn't know what I was talking about, I said "It's the potatoes that Americans often have on Thanksgiving..... What's Thanksgiving?"

I lost 1/2 pound. I guess I'm not too surprised, the scale was already showing me I was up a bit. But really, I'm just trying to be Zen about all of this...it is what it is. It's much better than where I was 6 months ago...

Susan, that is so funny. You don't even think of those things

I am so sorry I am such a bad cheerleader this week. Monday the computer kicked me off AND my profile was deleted from the server somehow and I couldn't get on for a few hours. Then I had to hurry the dictation for Tuesday. Yesterday was another crisis here. Seems one of the PO's has been lying about making visits to the placements and the kids.

Merissa, we are planning on firming things up with the time schedule soon. Hubby is going to get a schedule from the dentist tomorrow for his dental work and then we will know what we are doing. He has a few things in the works for a place to live. We are planning on going to Tampa.

Today's challenge is to just go out and do a random act of kindness for somebody. It will make you feel good about yourself to do something for somebody else.

Have a great day! I have another training to go to downtown today so I don't know if I will be able to check in later today or not.

Can my random act of kindness be cleaning up vomit? my youngest (3 yrs old) has vomited several times today. I don't think he's sick it's all phelm he is HORRIBLE at blowing his nose so it always upsets his stomach eventually ~ you'd think he'd learn to blow his nose by now... He at least has learned he still has to eat and drink so that's not an issue anymore. One good thing about him not feeling up to par is I get extra hugs and cuddles!!!!

Hey Connie, I just have to read your last post and I lose my appetite...it's a new weight loss strategy!

My kindness was inviting and picking up a new friend to join our Wednesday night dinner last night. I really don't know her but she moved here from San Antonio and was in the same bookclub with my sister...truly a small world.

We had a barbeque at a friend's house last night...you know Wednesday night is my one meal I can eat whatever I want. I had a chicken breast, baked beans, Watergate salad and the best of all...untold chips dipped into rotel tomato Velveeta cheese dip. Wow, was it GOOD! Of course I'm up 2 pounds this morning, I'm hoping half of it is salt.
