I know, I know....I am feeling sad and a little selfish right now! It's only because my cake when pretty unnoticed because of the servers being moved. I had uploaded the photo and then, WAHM!! No more CC!!! icon_cry.gificon_cry.gif

So, me and my husband worked REALLY hard on this Bass cake that's in my photos! We started actually decorating it about 8pm and stayed up until 2am then the next morning we put the finishing touches on with the luster dust!
Everyone loved it and so did we! But, on CC I didn't get as much feedback as I thought I would! So sorry to be selfish!

Here it is!

It's amazing! Very realistic! I suppose it would be too lengthy to explain how you did it? It does look like you guys put a lot into the cake. That's what we are here for to cheer you on.... You did a fabulous job! thumbs_up.gif

You did a great job! Very realistic too. I did a walleye cake for my brother back in August and understand the amount of work that goes into it, as well as the lack of sleep. (I'm won't post a picture here though, this forum is all about the great job you did! icon_wink.gif ) I'm sorry your cake got lost in the shuffle. You did a great job on it!

That is an impressive fish! It looks very realistic. My husband loves fishing - he would probably like a cake like that!

As for not getting many comments - it has been hard getting on the site with all the updates - I've been in the middle of looking at something, click the next page and it's gone! Also, I think with all the pics to look at, it can be hard to take them all in. I know I get sidetracked looking at stuff.

You and your hubby did a great job! You both should be very proud. thumbs_up.gif

chovest-I am going to go look for your cake right now! Actuallly I might have it saved!

I love it! My FIL used to go fishing all the time so this would be a great idea for his next birthday -or for a "just because". You did a great job and don't worry about being selFISH(no pun intended), you worked hard on that and I'm glad you brought it to our attention! I've been sad when the servers have been down -I have become addicted to these forums! icon_biggrin.gif

I just wanted to thank everyone for the comments on this thread and on the picture itself...I am really glad to know it was just the servers that screwed up my under noticed cake! LOL My hubby is going to be soo please...

ummm....some people mentioned a tutorial! I don't know about a tutorial! It took sooo long just to PAINT the darn thing...I just recommend practicing painting with the vanilla and food coloring. My husband went to town with the painting and he is an Art Major...I guess that's all I can say about the actual painting of the fish...put down some color and just keep adding to it!
OH! i made the fins ahead of time and let them dry THEN painted them...we inserted them all with toothpicks that were placed before drying!

Any other questions feel free to PM me!

THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE!!! i FEEL A LOT BETTER THAN WHAT I WAS FEELING AT THE BEGINNING OF THE WEEK! icon_biggrin.gif

my dad used to smoke fish in an old pull handle fridge out in our back yard. we used to sit in front of the tv with foil wrapped fish and eat it like one would eat popcorn watching a movie lol
