This is my first attempt at brushed embroidery. Thanks to all who offered their advice. I'm not sure if I did this right but everyone loved it. The MMF is made from strawberry marshmallows I found at Wal-Mart. They are delicious. Five minutes after the party started 3/4 of the cake was gone. Hope you like it.
Thank you for the nice comments. I love this website!!!!!! I've learned so much from all of you on this website. Thanks again!
Double whammie! Beautiful cake and apparently great tasting. Do the happy dance you
Lisa
You did a beautiful job with this cake! I love the look of brushed embroidery, and you did it perfectly! Love the pink color, too. I'll bet the strawberry MMF was so yummy!!
It looks delicious - sure you were very proud of it. Love the colour and design - I'm not sure but I think it is the first "rose embroidery" cake I've seen. Well done!
Your cake is lovely. I want to try the brushed embroidery but haven't had the chance to yet. Hopefully soon. I might be contacting you for tips.
Is that the color pink that the marshmallows gave you, or did you add some pink to it? It's beautiful!
What a beautiful cake! I love pink!! You did a beautiful job with the brush embroidery.
Hi fellow Texan! Beautiful work.
I've been practicing brush embroidery and love doing it but I still haven't "mastered" it yet.
Strawberry marshmallows!!?? Sounds good. Do they have a strawberry taste also??? I haven't tried making MMF as yet, but strawberry marshmallows just might push me to it!! LOL!
It turned out great! Did you free hand the roses? or use a stencil or something? They are perfect!
Thank You all for all the wonderful comments. You have made my day.
Jen 1977 - yes thats the color the marshmallows gave me. Surprised me since the marshmallows looked a faded pink in the bag. I was very happy with the color.
MCook - Yes, they have a delicious taste. They are way better than plain marshmallows. You can smell how good they are just by smelling the UNOPENED bag.
Shalderman - I used a regular stencil. I wasn't sure what to use to transfer the design. All I could find was one of those little corn on the cob holders you stick on the end of the cob. Worked great. One little prong is longer than the other and it gave me a good grip. I just punched tiny little pin size holes.
I also learned to do a small piece at a time because the RI was drying super fast.
I'll be walking with a little bounce to my step today. Thank you all!
Bravo! That is one beautiful cake you made! If I made something that pretty I'd stare at it for hours. Great job and once again BEAUTIFUL!!
Your cake is beautiful. Very elegant.
May I ask what kind of brush you used? I just attempted my first embroidery cake and had a heck of a time because the only brush I had seemed to be too soft.
Parable - I didn't have much money to buy a great brush so I bought a pack of brushes from Hobby Lobby. It was a pack of 5 brushes for $2.47. They had two round and three flat brushes.
It is a beautiful cake
job well done
I'd like to learn to do the brushed embroidery
is there a tutorial, directions on line, etc? that helped you
Vere - I asked for advice here on CC and sugarcraft.com has a brief explanation.
Thank you for nice compliments.
Cyndi1207 and MCook what part of Texas are you from? I don't see very many Texans on here. I'm from Corpus Christi.
