I cannot decide on using shimmer dust to to keep the cake a "matte" finish. This is just the top tier of a dress cake I will be making on a dummy.I am so stumped on what would be the best effect. Thanks for any advice. icon_wink.gif

P.S. Do the laces look correct? Something to me doesn't look right. Maybe I have been staring at it too long????LOL

It's so pretty . I don't know about the dust I think it would be pretty with or without it. The laces maybe close together but I think it is just fine.

ooooo! That is sooo beautiful! I havent seen anything like that before! I think (unless it is supposed to be that way) that maybe the laces are correct except the middle or so one where one is on top where it is supposed to be underneath...does that make sense? I only say that because you mentioned it, I dont think I ever would have noticed unless you said something. But maybe that is they way it is supposed to be?? I dont know....It is really beautiful...I want to save it!

The laces are perfect. I guess you should decide what fabric you are making your dress out of. If it's satiny, use the luster dust. If not, leave it matte. I can't wait to see the rest of it.

OK, here's my humble opinion (because you asked!). The decorations are beautiful! I see what you mean about the laces and here's my view...about halfway down, they change directions. They seem to be laced "up" at the top and "down" at the bottom.

Your roses are lovely! Maybe add some dust to them to make them sparkle.

You know, I was going to say do the dust, but now I'm thinking...

Why not just leave it as is until you get the rest of the cake done and sort of see how it's going to look when it's finished, then add luster then if you still want it.

I think it's gorgeous just like it is, but then again, I think it would be beautiful with some sparkle, too.

It is beautiful! I think waiting until the whole thing is put together to see if you need the dust is a good idea too. I think maybe just dust the lacing and the roses and leave the rest as is. Can't wait to see the finished!
Gorgeous!!

I probably wouldn't worry about switching the laces. We notice things that no one else would. I think it is very pretty, and would wait til it was complete before I put any dust on it.

I think it is gorgeous. Yes, the lace in the middle is wrong but wouldn't have noticed but you pointed it out. I like the matte look, but I cant wait to see the whole cake.

Yeah I was thinking if I changed that lace then those around it would look like that were all going the same way. You think? Good thing I didn't make them any thicker.....LOL

I am sure Dh will notice as soon as he walks in the door. That just drives me nuts! LOL

Thanks for the kind words icon_redface.gificon_rolleyes.gif
