So I decided to leave the laces alone. It is half done...will finish in the morning. Not looking as planned but pretty happy with it so far.
Thankyou everyone for all your input!

I see the lace thing, too, but I would NOT mess with that lacing job, girl. Sometimes trying to fix something that's a little off, I make a worse mess than if I'd left it alone. Unless you can redo it as perfectly as you've already done it, I'd leave it.

I think the lacing and the flower edges would be pretty in luster, but wait til it's all done to see if it needs it. It's going to be gorgeous! thumbs_up.gif

Well here it is...TAH DAH.... I learned soooo much from this cake!
1. Don't eat sesame bagels whilt using fondant.
2.Apply luster AFTER all piping is done
3.Don't under estimate yourself

Thankyou everyone who helped!!!!!!!!!!!!!Any comments welcome

That is such a beautiful cake! What a creative idea and BEAUTIFUL execution! What did you make it with? I know you said it was a dummy, but did you use royal on everything or fondant? I don't think the laces look incorrect - I think they look realistic. Wonderful job - you should be very proud.

OMG it is BEAUTIFUL. This is one that you should be so proud of. Since you made this a dummy, do the bride and groom keep it or do you take it back? If you get it back, why don't you find a wedding or florist or someone who will put it in their shop, (unless you're not legal.) Unbelievable job!!

Absoulutely beautiful, lovely and elegant. Perfect in everyway.

How did you get your fondant to drape so beautifully?

Thankyou everyone!

Vicky :this cake was actually pratice (it's all mine to stare at for a while)

ttat :i had the drapes resting over balls of paper towel to dry. It was pretty easy. I fan folded the fondant then opened it to drape over the paper towels.

Any bride would flip over this cake; my daughter did. If you don't have a shop, you should because you'll make it!!! Will you eventually try for a contest or demonstrate at I.C.E.S? I'd love to see your work in American Cake Decorating...
Good luck to you.

Thanks Vicky...I would love to try all of those things, but I am self taught and would be nervous that I wasn't doing things properly even though the end result would be good enough.
