Hi - what part of Houston are you in? I'm in the northwest area, Cy-Fair.
Born in Wisconsin, moved to Florida and now live in Houston, TX!!! Married for 18 years. I have 2 daughters: 16 and 13 year. Plus 1-dog and 4-cockatiels.

Hi,,,,I'm also a Canuk, from a small village about 30 min. from the head of the Great Lakes (Thunder Bay, ON). We're about a 3 hr. drive from Duluth, Wisc. (anyone from there??????????). Anyway, have been married 32 years, have 1 son and a 20 month old granddaughter. I've been dabbling in cake decorating for several years, but would love to get more involved. Love the advice & tips on this site. Can't wait every day to see the new posts!
I've lived in San Jose, California for 26 years--before that in Berkeley for 4 years at school and before that raised in San Diego. I'd be a California girl if I hadn't been born in New York. (Left when I was nine months old though, so maybe I am anyway.
Is anyone out there in or close to San Jose and interested in starting a cake club that is closer than Fremont? I haven't found anything closer and haven't made it there yet.
Susan

Hi Everyone!
I'm from Melbourne, Australia but have been living in Singapore the past few years.
A terrific site/cc for us to share and learn from each other! ![]()
Glad to hear that someone is familiar with the Twin Cities, and yes, do consider myself lucky and I love where I live. It's a beautiful area with great people. Although, I would love to travel more than I do and see other places (like CA). Never been there!
Hi all!
I was born in East Wareham, Massachusetts. Moved to Brockton, Mass when I was around 5. Moved to Lambsburg, Virginia when I was about 8 till about 14, then moved over the border about 15 minutes to Mayberry (Mt. Airy), NC. Moved to St. Cloud, FL when I was about 16-17, then Orlando when I got out of high school as I was working for Disney for about 5 years. Finally got out of the mouse's grips and had jobs in the restaurant industry as assistant baker/cake decorator. Did other jobs like Planet Hollywood, as an accountant/auditor. Finally got out of Orlando area and now live Tampa, Florida! I had a short lived job as a Pastry Chef, but hated it (wrong time/wrong place). Now I'm an Office Slave and I decorate cakes for fun on the side. I am starting WIlton's Course 2 on Tuesday. I meant to take Wilton's classes about 13 years ago when I graduated high school. glad I finally got around to it! ![]()
Hi y'all! I live in Durant(aka Doooooorant), Florida, just east of Tampa and close to Plant City, where the strawberries come from. I'm married for 17 years and have 2 wonderful kids ages 15

! It's all I think about! I am a stay at home mom and I have been decorating for about 3-4 years.

Hey Sharon-I used to live in Zephyrhills (Fl where the water comes from) but I live in New Orleans now (DH is in dental school). I miss FL but it's very interesting living here!! I learned how to decorate almost 5 years ago to make my grandparents 50th anniversary cake and have gotten back into it recently. ![]()
Solobaker,
I lived in Apple Valley and Bloomington for 3 years. I miss the Twin Cities very much. I'm from TX originally and came back to Austin. Definitely, buttercream loves the Twin Cities more than Austin.
This is my first post! I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and now live in rural Bell, Pennsylvania - about an hour northeast of Pittsburgh. I still work in the city, though, so I have quite a commute every day. I do cancer research full-time and I'm starting up a little baking business on the side. So Cakegal, are we the only ones from southwest PA?
Oh, sorry to say that you miss it so much. It really is good here. I live in the north suburbs. (Wyoming, W.B.L., Forest Lake area) Maybe you can come back to visit sometime. gdixoncakes: I've visited TX a couple of times and I really liked it there too. It's totally different than MN, but I really liked it. I've visited San Antonio (which I loved) and Edinburg/Reynosa, MX when I was younger.

I almost fell off my seat when I read Durant. But then I saw FLorida. I grew up and graduated from Durant, Iowa. Small town of about 6-7,000. I thought I might know you, as everyone knows everyone there, but no such luck this time.

Hi all,
I am from Severna Park, Maryland; originally from West Virginia. I am married and have 3 grown sons, 8 grandchildren. One of my grandsons gave me the name Grandma Sweetie Pie. I loved it and decided to use it, now they all call me Grandma Sweetie Pie.
I love this site, get a lot of information and ideas for decorating cakes. I have always baked, but couldn't decorate. I took all 3 Wilton Courses. I have feel in love with cake decorating. I am going to start a gumpaste class this fall.
I am still working, intend to retire in about 5 years, then I can devote more time to cake decorating.
I love reading where everyone is from.

I have 3 kids..... 8 (boy), 5 (girl), 13 months (boy).
i love this site!!! I have only been decorating cakes for a couple of months and I am having so much fun. I can't wait to learn more. I only wish it didn't look like a tornado hit my kitchen when I am done ![]()
I'm from Meriden CT. I am an at-home mom. Cake decorating gives me a creative outlet but doesn't take me away from my kids. Luckily I'm a night owl, so I get lots done while the kids and hubby are asleep...They wake up and see mom's creations and are very proud of me.
