juju I have never heard of the wal-mart bag method before interesting. I just wash mineand take ap airing knife and put slits in all around the potatoe coat lightly with oil place on plate and nuke for 5 to 10 minute depends on size of tator. I have never had an explotion yet. I think the hole poking helps the release the pressure. But I am not sure just know it works.

I don't poke holes in the potato at all or oil it. I guess whatever works...lol.

DH is home and it sounds like he's playing in the ice or he got stuck in the driveway. Guess I should go find out.

I'm in the very very Northeast corner of the state. It only takes me around 10 minutes or less to get to either MO or KS. We've only got around an inch or two with some snow added in. Put it's still freezing rain out there occasionally. Kids are disappointed because of the rain they can't go play in the snow....lol.

Last night we had chicken strips and popcorn chicken with fries and green beans.

Tonight was roast with potatoes and carrots and Grand biscuits.

Still lots of ice but it is starting to melt. So far we still have electric but a few roads (we're in the country) over the people are in the dark. We've heard a tree fall in the field but none close to the house so far.

Juju I think the melting Ice did more damage. Than the storm itself here. It was like a hail storm with big ice chunks falling randomly. Driving through town was a challenge. People had busted windows driving through town. This time we only got snow and bitter cold here. We didn't lose power in town. Good luck with the melting

Tonight was meatloaf, baked potaoes for DH and myself, cheesy mashed potatoes for kids, I tried knox's corn pudding. Thanks knox thumbs_up.gif but I think I put it in to small a pan. It took for ever to cook. I put it in an 8 by 8 pan. I think I cooked it about addition 30 minutes. But it sure was good. Kids totally loved it. We will definatly make it again. I will probably make it for family get togethers also. Maybe a new dish I just gotta take or not get to go icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

joanmary the are doiing good thanks for the well wishes. And the 16 year old has given me alot of grey hairs. 8 yr. old is starting to give me more icon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

Hey, Y'all! Back from seeing Momma. She's going down hill, but she still smiles occasionally. Getting to where she's forgetting how to eat. I'm worried.

Last night at the hotel I had a steak and shrimp. DS had ribs, chicken and shrimp.

Tonight was easy-squeezy. Clam chowder from the can and crackers.

BUT IT IS SSSOOO COOOLLDD here. I was alittle furious. He doesn't have a job but is driving to school and running friends all over icon_mad.giftapedshut.gificon_evil.gif He got $5 for gas from a friend tonight after I ran out. Our gas gauge is alittle off. But not to bad. I didn't know he left school at lunch time so I wasn't figuring that milage in. Boy did he get his BUTT CHEWED tapedshut.gif

Knox I am glad you had a safe trip. I will be thinking of you and your MOM.

juju your left overs sound better than mine tonight. Maybe cause I had them for lunch also. Meatloaf I love it but I wanted lasanga and I ran out of gas so didn't get to cook it tonight icon_cry.gif Oh well maybe tomorrow

We are missing a few of our friends. I wonder where they are. mxpark where are you??? morningglories where are you??? There are a few others I can't think of who right now. I'm back as well....I had to go to out of state. My grandmother died and her funeral was this past weekend. DD was out of school on fri and mon so at least she didn't miss school.

Knox...sorry to hear about your mom not doing so well. I know how hard that is. Hope you and ds enjoyed each others company,

Joanmary...I would love to blame my grey hair on my kids...but in my case dna. I was starting to turn grey at 23 icon_eek.gif . At my grandmothers funeral this past weekend I realized that all of us (except my sister icon_mad.gificon_lol.gif ) are turning grey.

Kay....your right we are missing a couple. I have been wondering about Morningglories for a while. I hope all is well with our missing table friends.

daltonam....hope you are feeling better. When you get a chance maybe you could post your recipe for the hashbrown casserole with sausage.

Monica...I'm with you, I love to eat too much as well.

It's good to be home. Last night we had pizza. We bought it at our favorite pizza place in Illinois frozen and baked it when we got home. It's dh's favorite pizza in the whole world. Its better there but almost as good baked at home.

Stove Top Easy Cheese Chicken Bake was for supper tonight. I got the recipe from the Kraft Food website.

Ohara--I started graying when I was 16. Thankfully so far it's still not too many but it freaks others out when they happen to notice them. Most of them are on the underneath part of my hair so not noticeable.

We had Husker pork chops marinated in a Hickory BBQ. I wanted them to stay moist so I baked them in a foil bag. They were tough my DS said. icon_cry.gificon_cry.gif Maybe I cooked them to long icon_redface.gif This was the fist time I've tried to do them this way. Anyway we had baked potatoes, french cut green beans, peas.

Juju I love getting recipes off the kraft site. Do you get the newletter?? I haven't tried that recipe yet. It sounds Yummy. And my little sister grayed early also. She has dark brown almost black hair. It was pretty noticable. So she would pull them out. Now she colors her hair.

ohara Sorry to here about your grandma. I will be thinking of you. Mom might have to go round them up soon. Cause we are all worring about them. mxpark is probably pretty busy right now with valentines day just around the corner. I bet all those passion parties are keeping her busy. icon_lol.gificon_razz.gif And you had to go and say pizza icon_cry.gificon_cry.gif It is my weakness and I want pizza hut so bad but don't have the money icon_cry.gificon_cry.gif Maybe DH will get his bonus this week and we can splurge alttle icon_lol.gif

everyone that asked, i'm so sorry it's taking me so long---here it is

i kinda made it up, so here goes--

cook hashbrowns until kinda mushy, then press into a pie pan (like a shell), bake &&& broil until crispy (i used frozen hashbrowns)

cook sausage (i call it pan sausage), then drain---cook eggs until just done, add sausage back, stir (at this point the eggs will be done---DON'T overcook them, they will cook in the oven) fill hashbrown shell with mixture, top with cheddar cheese & bake until bubbly

DON'T FORGET to salt & pepper the hashbrowns & eggs

i do wish that i could have gotten the hasbrowns crispier on the bottom,

but oh well, they liked it---i don't eat sausage or eggs--lol

Well I posted earlier but it disappeared so here goes again. We had leftovers from last night. Wanted something quick and easy. We decided to go to Walmart tonight so the kids and I could get out of the house. Had to wait until mom got home with her 4 wheel drive. Dh has ours and he's at work.

Kay--I not only get the Kraft food newsletter, I also get the magazine.

Kay and juju...I love the Kraft magazine. My sister and I both get it. I made the pound cake in this months issue this past weekend. I had a great flavor.

Tonight will be deer chili (we have some frozen that I just have to thaw and reheat). Homemade bread and homemade butter to go along with it.

Note to self: make sure you turn down the mixer when the butter starts forming. Buttermilk isn't fun to clean off the kitchen table...lol. My homemade bread always seems really heavy though. Not sure if I'm not letting it rise enough the last time or what. Oh well it still tastes good. I don't make these often but it's what DS is learning in school. I homeschool so it was part of our lessons for the day.

DS started barfing last night, and kept up all the way 'til 6 this morning. So I stayed home from work today with him. Poor kid. He's better, thank goodness.

We didn't get the money to replace the bed, either. icon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gif So I guess we're just sleeping all over the house until taxes come in or whatever. Gah!

Tonight is canned soup and crackers. Easy squeezy and easy on DS's stomach.

Ohara--I'm so sorry about your grandma passing.

Sorry I've only been on the site here and there since I've been so busy since starting school back up again...boy, I loved having a nice long break away from learning! icon_biggrin.gif

Tonight was breaded talapia fish, baked potatoes (some loaded with cheese, bacon and sour cream) honey glazed carrots and crusty rolls. My kids are driving me insaine!!!!! They asked for fish for supper and they didn't even eat any of it icon_mad.gif they are too busy arguing and destroying the house to even listen to me let alone follow the rules. I'm so tired right now I could hardly even care. My MIL is back watching them while I'm at school so they think they can misbehave again icon_evil.gif Whenever she watches them their behavior drastically changes icon_cry.gif Time for vigilanty justice again starting tomorrow!!!! Knox sorry to hear that you son is sick. I bought heavy whipping cream. Put it in the kitchenaid bowl, put on the whisk attachments and turned it to 4. I kept an eye on it and when the butter curds started forming, I should have turned it down to 1 or 2. After the butter formed, I rinsed it with cold water. Squeezed all the water out and salted it. Then I put it in my butter dish and smoothed it out.
By the way, I use my kitchedaid dough hood to knead the dough. I can't do it by hand at all...lol.

Ok we have had a few busy days lately. DD is in dance and they had a make up class last night for one the missed at thankgiving. And tonight at class they had pictures. So it was a long day. After school my niece came to my house and styled my DD and 2 other nieces hair for pictures.

So last night I made quick and easy meal tacos or taco salad. I made the meat and beans and you figure our how you want it. And tonight was left overs. And I am making lasagna for tomorow night.

daltonam I will try your recipe it sounds so good for a weekend brunch.

juju homeschool wow I couldn't do it. Well we do study about 3 hrs everynight. DD has a reading problem so we do alot with that and spelling words. She is good at spelling but doesn't spell very well in school work. And I am wanting some deer chili. I still have alittle bit of deer so that may be a thought. We are suppose to get more snow. How about you?? I hope you are stay safe and warm.

mkolmar Kraft mag and allrecipes. com are my favs. When ever I am stuck on what to make I go to them first. And don't you just hate it when you cook your butt off and no one eats icon_cry.gif Happens here all the time.

Knox I hope Ds feels better soon. I hate those days. So sleeping all over the place HUH It makes life alittle more interesting though icon_razz.gificon_wink.gif No really I hope you get your bed fixed soon. I know what it is like. But we got a hand me down bed from my sister. She had a full size be and needed a smaller one so we got hers. But it is starting to fall apart. So we might be sleeping around soon also icon_razz.gif Good Luck
