Yeah, I think it was 2 Tbsp too...I was typing as they were doing it and already deleted it off the Tivo. Doesn't matter though - twice the hootch is twice as nice. icon_lol.gif

I think the show was about how the cake tasted rather than how they looked. I know there wasn't too much of the cake part as we would have liked it but that's because we are CAKE ADDICTS thumbs_up.gif !!!
I would always go for a cake that taste good rather than one that would look good.

My video screwed up - I was so mad last night. But sounds like I didn't miss much. Maybe we should contact Oprah, explain our disappointment in the show, and link her and Gayle to CC!!!!

BritBB, all I could think of while the show was running is "this is about celebrities and famous bakeries, it is not about cakes...I wonder what it would take to draw Oprah's attention to CC"; I do wonder if Oprah could be intrigued by the number of people truly fascinated by and dedicated to cake decorating around the world!?!?!

I was very disappointed in the show. I was bored watching it and obviously Oprah was too. I kept waiting for it to get better.

I agree with you FunCakes.

...And another vent about Oprah...Why is it that she always "makes over" a wealthy persons house????

I would love a home makeover....but I guess my husband doesn't make enough or my house is too small to make over. Ok enough about that....

I do remember her having a great baby shower cake at the baby shower she through last year. For that dream thing she was doing.

I think she is just too big now to really get "real" people anymore.

Just my two cents!!!

I was thinking the same thing. If not Oprah then maybe the Food Network! LOL. I did watch it when I got home and yes it could have been better. I think that the food shows do alot better coverage. They probably have more time to do that then Gayle does. And Oprah she's trying to watch her weight so she only took little bites--she did look bored and just wanted to move on to something else. thumbsdown.gif

I was disappointed too. I pretty much figured out that the cakes might not be decorated, but I wasn't prepared for a very bored Oprah. I don't watch Oprah hardly ever, but it seems like she wasn't even enjoying her career yesterday. I was like, okay, rich people eating cake.....um, sure.

Okay guys - I've done it! I've sent an email to the Oprah show telling her how a group of cake makers/decorators/enthusiasts were disappointed in the show yesterday, and recommending that they check out some of the talent on this site. I suggested they do a show about real people, not celebs.

I doubt they will reply, but if they do I'll be sure to let y'all know.

I recorded and finally watched it. I agree with many of the comments, it was bad. Oprah went from bored to looking mildly disturbed through the whole thing. It was not really about cakes, but all the wealthy people they know, plus the cakes did not look or sound all that appealing.

I think her show is more about look at me, look at who I know (Legend's ball) and sorry you can't be one of us, but here is a glimpse. My response is never to watch her or buy anything she endorses. lol. - Bitter, cake for one!

Even though I didn't like the show yesterday, I would never think that Oprah was about "look at me". She has never forgotten where she came from and has never stopped helping people. Of all the wealthy people I see on TV, I think I could feel the most comfortable around her. She has earned her position and didn't walk all over people to get where she is.

Hope the people at Harpo respond to the email. It would be great for them to look at all the good work you guys do. I'm just an amateur that would be afraid to post my cakes. icon_lol.gif

I have to say I agree with Rodneyck. With her billions I believe Oprah can do so much more! I am glad she goes to Africa and helps those poor people over there but she has enough that she can make an impact here as well. Why would she want to show off her beautiful homes and jewelry and how many shoes she has? Come on get real - most of us don't live like that... are we supposed to sit in our living rooms and just drool? What about the time she bought all those cars for each of the audience members only to turn around and have the audience members have to pay the tax on that? What kind of a gift is that? I call it a tax write off. Not bitter, just wish some rich people would remember how they got started and try to help someone else. It's called community service but in their case it's called PR.

I was dissappointed that I was going to miss it, now I don't feel so bad.

I agree with many who have said feature some of the CC members, maybe helps someone's career that does not already make the millions.

I'm with Rodneyck...........didn't see the show...didn't have to. Her charity is a pittance in relation to the amount of $$$ she has. Not to worry~ Oprah is #1 to Oprah. True giving is when it hurts a little to give.....a sacrifice. She's in no pain.

I DON'T HAVE THE SEWER LINE EITHER!!!!!!! LOLOL!

She is the only person on tv that helps so many people .......either with money or more people through all the important topics she bring on tv that hasn't been talked about before.
Well you have to watch her show in order to know that............

Why don't we join BritBB and post a message for Oprah? There's strength in numers!!!

I went to Oprah's website and suggested featuring cake designers, both professional and amateur (from CC of course!). I also sent an email commenting how a large group of viewers were disappointed in her best cake show.

here's the link, keep it going!!

What a cruel thing to say. How many $$$ does one have to give before it becomes painful enough to count? She is not obligated to give anyone anything.

Oprah can do whatever she wants with money, that's not really the point. The point was missed when she, or rather her assistant, was delivering cakes to stars and rich tycoons who showed no enthusiasm, or the least bit of appreciation, for cake. So you have to ask yourself, why wasn't Gale delivering them to wedding planners, cake makers, and people on this forum, (lol)? I wanted to hear expert opinions, get some tips and maybe learn a recipe.

They did throw in Rachael Ray and her pot de crème in a blender, which had nothing to do with the topic, as filler. I guess Arnold and Maria were busy.

So true Rodneyck!!! I have to admit I watch Oprah on a somewhat regular basis, I remember recently she had a show on about how our society is "celebrity obsessed." The show was basically saying the obsession has had a very negative affect on woman! And then you tune in to watch a show about cake, and all it is is a celebrity schmooz fest!! AAAHHH, yes, I love the mixed messages the media sends, even the almighty Oprah.

Riagirl,

Thanks for the link. I already suggested the same thing to them. Maybe if enough of us suggest a show really about cake decorating, they just might do it. Strength in numbers.
