Decorating By ASupergirl Updated 2 May 2006 , 6:48pm by NightIcer
All right....I have a cake doodle addiction (cake balls)...but how do we package this little boogers....By the way....I just finished making Caramel Coconut Fudge Cake Doodles.....is your mouth watering yet?? So how do you guys package them?????
All right....where do I ship them???....they are truly addicting....I completely emptied out the cake decorating book section of our main library...well not the whole thing...but I do have about 30 of the books in the section....I've been testing and playing around with various cake recipes and various frosting recipes....well today I combined it and made these little guys....who knew I would end up with so many of them....I've got 4 dozen of these things sitting on my counter....So please please please tell me how to package them....I'm starting my business out and I think these are going to be a great "freebie" item to get my name out there, but I don't know how to give them....
OMG...Send me the recipe????? Please????? You can just toss them in a box and send them this way?
I used to work at a reception hall and they made cake balls as guest favors. They packaged them 2 to a box with parchment paper lining the box. I dont know were they got the boxes (they had all sorts of colors and designs) sometimes they were tied with bows that said the couples name or something cute. So an idea for you would be to make small boxes (might find them at michaels) out of the signature color or have the logo of your business on the box and tie a cute bow with a business card attached by the bow. Hope this helps, goodluck
The mini cupcake wrappers seem to be about perfect for mine. After I am done decorating them I place them in a wrapper matching the "theme" (easter ones had rabbits and chicks on the wrappers) Then I get a 10' square box and cut two cardboard squares to fit and cover them with matching paper (scrapbook). I can layer cakeballs and cardboard to fill the box. I can get 45 cakeballs out of one mix and 45 cakeballs fit in the 10' square box perfectly. These things are selling like hot cakes at $15.00 a box here.
http://www.orientaltradingcompany.com has lots of neat little boxes. They have chinese take-out type boxes and other similar things in all kinds of patterns and colors. I always buy some near Christmas for cookies.
I'm on the bandwagon!! Would you please, pretty please giv eme that recipe? That sounds too yummy. I'm gonna try these this week!
Holey Moley....Evidently I created a stir in stomachs today!!!! With everybody asking for the recipe it sounds like I've got a winner here....I dunno...should I give away my secrets???? And yes in case you were all wondering...the Caramel Coconut Fudge Cake Doodles are made competely from scratch....No pre-made this or boxed that....I put four of them in little pink baking cup papers and tied them up with tissue paper and a pink ribbon....I just gave four of them to my neighbor....These are soooooooooo rich that four is more than enough....I needed milk with just two of them....I don't think I'm giving my MIL her cookie baller tool thingy back after seeing the hungry bellies wanting the recipe.....Pink is the signature color..The Tissue was fine just to drop off next door....but I need something just for sample sizes...like the two-four range of samples....Maybe I'll just put the recipe up for everyone???? I finally made a winner!!!!!!
Ooohhh I bake from scratch too! I was just wondering how I would have to modify the reciep if it was from a box, LOL. Yes please post the recipe. Oh and I am another vote for those take out boxes, I love those and they come in cool patterns too. I saw some in Hobby Lobby yesterday for like 99 cents with high heels and stuff on them. Also, Nashville Wraps has them in different sizes. HTH and I will be waiting anxiously for the recipe.
I know they sell small boxes...depending on the size of the balls you might get two to four in them.
Alright I answered the question...where's my balls??
How many of the chinese boxes came in a pack or do they come separately??? How much??? Pink???
Yep...was just getting on to say that www.Nashvillewraps.com has all kinds of great stuff for packaging things, but I think you have to order at least $30 at a time, if I am remembering correctly. Would love to see the recipe as well!
The ones at Dollar Tree come three to a pack. They have several different designs..not sure about pink. They did have plain white ones for wedding favors.
I love orientaltradingcompany... they are so awesome!
I love the idea though of the mini cupcake wrappers for one or a bunch in one large one then wrapped up in celephane (sp?)...
OH AND I WANT THAT RECIPE TOO!!!! PLEASE!
Post the recipe so we all can have it. It sounds so good and my grandkids love cake balls.
Can you add yet another to your list for the recipe? I've never even heard of these and would LOVE to add them to my recipe box!
You can PM or email me *Moderator Edited to remove e-mail address from post*
Thanks for sharing!

Try looking on E-Bay for boxes or containers. They're super cheap and you can even buy them by the 100s in all sorts of colors, shapes, and sizes. Try searching for wedding favor boxes, favor boxes, shower favor boxes, etc.
Okay, I will jump on the bandwagon also in requesting the recipe. It just sounds too good not to want to try it.
Thanks!!
Well, I don't want tosound like a broken record, but can I have that recipe too pleassssse!
Thanks
Connie
I would love to see a picture of your final product - and of course like everyone else, want the recipe. With all the interest, can you post it? May be add it to this thread also !
Thanks
I think it would be really pretty to get some little pink mini cupcake papers to put them in individually, then maybe look in the candy aisle in the craft store and get some of the little candy boxes.....they usually have just white...but you may be able to still get some pastel pink ones left over from easter....if not, just use the white and get a pretty stamper and some pink ink and stamp all over the box!!!! tie with a pink ribbon and voila!!!!!!
Hey, Don't forget me!!!! I want it too, Please. I think you may have to post it. It will probably be easier, don't ya think? THANKS!
