Wow! This thread is so funny. I'm about to post some pictures I thought would never make it to this site.
This first one was for my mom's birthday. I made it before I'd learned anything about cake decorating. I saw a Woman's Day magazine with a picture on the front of a cake decorated with fondant (I think) daisies. I thought, "Hey, I could make those using marshmallows!" Well, making daisy petals out of marshmallows proved to be much harder than I'd thought. I finally gave up in frustration and mushed the marshmallows into bunnies. My husband looked at the cake, wondering why I'd made a bunny cake for a 47 year old woman. My response was, "Bunnies just happened!"
It's become a great joke between the two of us. Whenever we do something that doesn't quite turn out the way we'd planned, we say, "Bunnies just happened!"
This Cinderella cake was for my daughter's 4th birthday. It didn't turn out so badly, EXCEPT, I thought I'd use my old Golden Dream Barbie (purchased sometime in the late 70's, probably) for Cinderella. Somehow the super-tan Barbie doesn't quite work for lovely Cinderella. lol.

To get it to upload to this forum make sure that you resize your photo 800x800 pixels or less..I think that is the size. Let us know if that helps. 
This cake is the reason I havent tried to really decorate a cake in twenty years. Every time I made a cake it fell and the only way to fix it was with LOTS of frosting. My family was always teasing me about my caved in cakes. So last year I secretly took wilton classes to redeem my reputation. This is my Oscar the grouch which has been haunting me for years.
Oh I LOve the baby booties they remind me of old Fuzzy slippers. This is such a funny thread. I'm still to nervous to post any other pictures. Too many years of being laughed at.
babynewyear: I think Oscar's cute!! Is he made of cake too? Please don't be nervous about posting your cakes....we will not laugh at you!!
Thats kind of why I started this thread...some of us decorators take ourselves so seriously & worry about every cake that we do that sometimes we lose the fun part of it. 2 months ago, I would have never let anyone see these pictures(especially the booties), but now I realize that sometimes these cakes just happen. Its nice to be able to laugh with you guys about them & not be embarrassed.

I will try to get past it. My family has a habit of asking if they should be watching out for plastic under the frosting( thats how I hid all my holes) I had graduatied to sprinkles though.
LOL Oscar made out of cake, I ran out and bought him after trying to fix the cake. It was a cake for my husband. I'm getting lots of tips off of CC so I should be up to snuff soon. Thanks ge978 this thread is alot of fun! I dont feel so alone now

yes I sure did and they beat my booties...all thought I like my cupcake booties that are in my galllery. I love the fact that something this sweet and fun has lasted this many posts/pages. I love a light evening.!
BUNNIES JUST HAPPENED!!! OMG ROFL!!!!
This was some of the funniest reading I've ever done!!! Some of these cakes are so bad you just feel sorry for them I'm kidding, trust me, I am not one to judge... some of my first cakes... I didn't take pictures of them but I will explain... For one, they stayed in a pyrex baking dish...never bothered to torte them, never had layers. Then I simply plopped a whole can of frosting on top and smeared it around until it had all those ocean waves like the box always has on the cover of cake mixes. 
There was icing smooshed all in the sides and the walls of the baking dish, the whole thing just looked like a big glob in a pan... 
and I would march it into a family gathering or a birthday party all proud, holding it close. I'd lay it on the counter and if I heard anyone ask, 'hey who brought the cake?" - I'd come running in the room like, "It was me, I did it, it was all me!" Like it was anything to boast about and take responsibility for. It looked like a casserole you'd find at a church potluck...only it smelled sweet instead of savory. 
I just grossed myself out. 
I just read through several pages to catch up....and with my vote....I'm gonna have to say the booties TAKE THE UGLY CAKE!!!

I was trying very hard not to laugh out loud so that my husband wouldn't come over here....and I LOST it when I read about the baby powder around the booties!!!!!! ....I think thats what got me when I originally looked at them!!! I said out loud...what in the world is all around those giant baby's shoes!!!!...I also thoguht how many booties does one baby need!!!
to those who know about the "cake porn" my husband says I look up......you will appreciate this one.....

After looking at this post I now know there is hope for me. It is great that ya'll can poke fun at ourselves sometimes. It is great to see how far ya'll have come keep it up I have had the best laugh all day. Everyone on CC is so great and ya'll teach us so much.
OMG!! This is killing me. Too funny. The cakes are great. but the stories are what is getting me. You guys are just all to funny. I like a lot of others, don't take pictures of the bad ones. But beleive me they did exist and it wasn't good. Keep it up you guys, we are on page 12 already. the porn thing just finished me off.

THAT'S the DIFFERENCE with this thread, babynewyear. All we see are funny cakes (and hear funny stories) that WE could have done! So you're not so much being laughed AT, but being laughed WITH! We KNOW how it feels to have our cakes laughed at, but your family (and mine) didn't know how hurtful it was when THEY laughed at our attempts!

I told my husband that we're putting our worst cakes inhere....and he asked me....did you put your christmas tree inthere ...not so funny anymore!!! Now I think I know why it stayed and melted in his car!!!!
