Need A Basketball Cake Idea

How many servings? Are you making the sportsball pan and an 8" or 9" pan for the hoop?
It would be nice to get the prices "the perfect cake" is charging! I'd charge $50 anyway...
Debbie
I didn't see where "the perfect cake" listed their prices.
I will probably use a 9" round for the hoop and I'm not sure how many the ball pan will serve.
I've always been nervous about charging certain prices. Sometimes I think it will scare away my customers.
Here's their pricing page:
http://www.perfectcake.com/pricing.cfm
But they are only estimates, it looks like the cheapest sculptered cake you can get is $110 and it only serves 15-20 people. (ouch in my pocketbook
)
WOW! What a price list! Since I'm just starting to get more clients I don't think I will charge $110 for that cake. I think the minimum will be $50. I'll put together a list of all ingredients, colors, and time then I'll determine the final cost.
Thanks guys!
Diane
The goal will be a 9" round with a basketball on top (ball pan).
I'd go in the $50 area. You can always charge more if they go for "premium" cake or filling.
One more question concerning the 3 D basketball cake and hoop. How would I transport a cake like this?
Is there a box larger enough to cover the entire cake? Also, which is better to use plastic or wood dowel rods?
Plastic or wood would work just fine. I would place a cake board btw the ball and the basket and dowel as in a tiered cake. I know they make boxes to fit the doll cakes. One of them would probably work.

Thanks Debbie
I will check my local cake supply store today.
Great! Good luck! I definitely want to see pictures!
