The bottom of the bowl says dishwasher and microwave safe. Does that mean I can bake in it? I have some large "stoneware" type" chili bowls that I would like to make some miniature doll cakes in. They don't say oven safe but, if it says microwave safe, I'm wondering if it can take the heat. Whatcha think?

There is a risk that the stoneware will crack. The ceramic can absorb moisture, and the oven heat causes it to break. However, if you put the dish on a large sheet pan, you could probably test it-provided you don't mind if it breaks in the oven.

If it says oven safe it would be ok otherwise that's risking it.

Thanks for the info ladies. I think I'll just use the pyrex bowl trick instead!
