here we go again - 3rd try to post this

I have a request to quote this cake. I believe it is a Wilton cake however I could not find it on the Wilton site or in any of my Wilton books. Can anyone tell me which book it is in or give me the details on the cake please?

Thanks
Debbie

ok - the picture is too big. I think the cake is called Promises Kept. The base is a large rectangular cake with a 1/2 round in the front and has a round on each end on pillars with a fountain in the middle with stairs going from the two round cakes and meeting over-top of the fountain with the bride and groom on it. The display in the book has orchids on it. Any help would be appreciated.

That is the cake! Has anyone seen it in a book anywhere? I did e-mail her and ask where she found it but I haven't heard back yet. I know that she is expecting 250 - 280 guests at the reception.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!
Debbie

If it is a Wilton design, you can contact them for info. I emailed them about the sailboat pan instructions and they sent me scans from a YB with directions. They're really helpful.

I went through all of the yearbooks back through the 80's and that cake is not in any of them, but I know I've seen it in print somewhere. I have some other books to look at later.

However, in the 1990 YB there is a similar cake called "Crystal Enchantment" and it serves 300. Based on the picture at Freed's Bakery, your cake is going to yield more. The half-round in the front is an 18" half-round, and you could easily fit one on either side with room to spare, so that cake is probably every bit of 5' long. You're either going to be doing hours of on-site assembly or are going to be carrying a 5' long cake...hope you have a Suburban!!

That cake is based on Wilton's "Stardust" cake (pg54 of "A Treasury of Wilton Wedding Cakes"). The Wilton design has an 18" half round on each side of the long center and will serve 365 total.

According to the diagram in the book, the center cake is made of a 12x12, 12x18, and another 12x12 put in a line with the 18" half rounds centered in the front and back. The round cakes are 8". It lists the pillars as being 5" to make the angle correct for the stairs and bridge and to accomodate the fountain.

That is a ton of cake...and let's see...42" long, so 3.5 feet. Wow! icon_eek.gif

Fairly easy design, though, but I hate stringwork. It is a beautiful cake; just make sure you charge enough to make it worth your time! That's a whole lotta cake and icing! icon_smile.gif

PS: That book has been discontinued, but I'm sure you could still find it at a specialty cake supply store or on Ebay if you want it. I would scan the pic and instructions and send them to you, but I've not gotten my scanner hooked back up yet from moving things. Maybe someone else has the book too and could scan the info for you. icon_smile.gif

Wow! That is a lot of cake! Thanks everyone.

Lisa, i'd love it if you could scan and sent me the directions. My e-mail is [email protected] or [email protected].

MrsMissey ~ this is for someone in Baltimore County. I made an engagement cake for my cousin's neighbor and got a call for another engagement cake from it. The wedding cake is from the second engagement cake. The SIL of the bride is paying for the cake and she's having trouble with the other SIL so they keep changing their minds. This is one of the latest 3 "final" designs. We'll see what they say when they get the price!

Thanks again!
Debbie

Every now and then, I take a peek at it and think that I would love to give that baby a try.

Good luck thumbs_up.gif
