Check Earlenes Cakes! I think her site has instructions on how to make them. They may have to be purchased I am not sure!

aunticake...I saw that Earlene DOES charge for those instructions...$14 or $18 or so. I KNOW I've seen someone post some instructions somewhere awhile back. I'm thinking SquirrellyCakes????

Squirelly Cakes made a tutorial on how to make puff bases. It's on another site. You will need to sign up to be able to see the full tutorial.

I will look it up and send you the link tomorrow. I am heading to bed now. But I will send it out to you tomorrow for sure.

The instructions are on www.r-bdesigns.com under the message board, Techniques, "Making a Gathered Cake Base Stand".
The site owners have recently changed the rules so that people have to become registered members and actually post there to be able to view.

Go under Cooking, Techniques. Page 2. There is a post requirement now before you can see anything, not sure if that is the problem.

I have the instructions from Earlene. They are long. I have not used them yet. Now, if you all can figure how I can get them to you I will do that. If you don't need them right away next week, I can copy and mail them to one person and then if a lot of you want them that person can do the same and so forth.

I think there is a problem on that site. It is not accepting any new applicants at the moment. Even if you sign in as a guest, that doesn't seem to get you there. If there is someone out there who knows how to navigate the site so we can get there they will post it for us. Thanks

Just wanted to clarify, my instructions are not from Earlenes, I have never seen her instructions, it is just my way of covering a stand that ends up with a similar effect.
I do not know if Earlene has a copyright protection on her instructions. If she does, you cannot copy them to share. You might want to check that out.

Thanks, I will look at her site and see. I don't want to take business away from anyone. And Earlene is always so helpful I do like to share what I have though and it sometimes does get me in hot water. But if you can figure a way to see the tutorial I would love it.

Well, they have changed their rules recently. There is a post requirement before you can see anything. That is likely why you are not getting anywhere. They felt that too many people were just going into the site to take things and not to contribute so they put a post requirement in place. And I do not believe that you cannot remove things from the site and post elsewhere without permission.
You can no longer view as a guest.
If you meet the posting requirements you will find the instructions under Cooking, Techniques, then page two of that section, "Making a Gathered Cake Base Stand" with my name as poster.

If it's OK with SquirrellyCakes, I have a copy of her wriiten instructions from that site. Unfortunately I don't have all the pics to go with it. But if she's OK with it I can at least send the written part to you.

Well I sort of feel in a bind about this. I had done that little tutorial as a rough basis for one I made for this site as they don't have the capacity for separate tutorials. So the pictures were separate within that post. Actually the pictures explain it better than the written instructions.
I posted it as a tutorial so that I wouldn't be in the position of having an ongoing list of requests as I am with the Cake Lady Recipes request thread on Wilton.
It wasn't a problem before because people could just sign up and get the instructions but then they were not contributing to the cake community there and that is part of why the rules there were changed. I think out of respect for the other site's rules, I would rather people meet the site requirements there in order to obtain the instructions. Just as we have rules here.
I hope nobody is offended by this, I have always shared whatever recipes or instructions I have come up with.

Ok SQC Mama beat me to the punch.

I believe you have to make a minimum of 3 post in the General section to be able to access the full site.

That's not a lot they basically just want people To come in and introduce themselves rather than just using the site to just take information from it.

So if you want the instructions to Squirrelly Cake's puff bases that's where you will find them

Thanks Ma for posting the link.
