Hat Box Cake

 Hat Box Cake  on Cake Central

WASC cake, torted and filled with two layers of homemade strawberry filling, and IMBC flavored with Citrus Rum and sliced strawberries in the center. Chocolate fondant with fondant details and gumpaste roses. This is my second cake of this type and it was so much fun.

seriously... this is beautiful. How do you get a true black fondant. I am new at this so I am begging for very specific details/recipes. Please....

Amytracy, the lid is also cake. I used dowels to help prop it up. I sharpened the back rear dowel for stability. I had to lower the lid a bit after placement and the rose edges cut into the pink trim on the lid. This cake took no time at all to make.

The lid is also cake, on a cardboard round and covered in fondant. It's proped up with dowels - one in the back and two in the front, left and right. I sharpened the dowel in the back and pressed it into a small hole I made in the board so it wouldn't move.
