this cake took forever! Please I would love ALL and ANY serious feedback! I feel like I'm getting better but my photos never get comments or added as favorites! Is my work really that bland, boring, crapy, or bad? Please tell me what I need to do to get better!

Hello everyone...

Thanks for everyone that saw te pictures and commented on them...
I had a comment posted on my blog but there was no link to replyh to them so I will post the answer here....

Q: how did you get them to stick together without the colors running (like the black will sometimes do if using water or gum glue)? Is there a backing piece covering the backside?

A: Sherry: When I outlined all the pieces with the extruder... I used a brush with some water and slightly brushed the lines before putting them back together... so the water glued the part together... but I also added a backside becaue when I lifted the piece up... it was very thin and I was afraid it might just crumble if not handled carefully... and since this will be given as a present, I will not be putting in in the cake so I had to make sure it would hold to being picked up and handled...

Kay: I will do a youtube on how I did it and posted... I love posting how to videos... but most of the things are already there so I don't dfo it if it's something that had like 5-8 how to's already, but I haven't seen something like this done via you tube so I will gladly do it

Am working on perfecting corners. Also, this photo shows a discrepancy in the icing but honestly, you couldn't see it IRL!!

Oh, customer did NOT wish to have the tree "decorated" other than with the cupcakes, so didn't use any ribbon. The 8" cake is setting on *my* plate, and colors match, yay! And yes, the National colors set are the same as Halloween's Candy Corn!

When you post your cakes, please make sure that you add that you are a member of a critique group. This is so that when we critique your cakes, other people who do not know you want the critiques don't get defensive or afraid that we might do the same to their cakes.
If you are going to be a member and post your cakes here for critiques, please extend the courtesy of critiquing the other member's cakes. Even if you are new at decorating, you might see something that no one else has or have an idea that hasn't been offered yet. Everyone is here to help.
