Red And Pink Birdie Cake
My first attempt at full coverage ruffles, was a nightmare to begin with. Then when I steamed them they flopped over and I had to prop them toothpicks. Thank goodness I had seen that tip otherwise I would have really had a problem. I wish I had painted the name on the top layer rather than use RI, and I wish I had made the bird smaller.

Cinderella's Pink Dress
Decorated this dress with buttercream, the way I used to when I worked at a bakery (YEARS ago). The swags separating the pleats and the ruffles are fondant, as well as the bows and all parts of her bodice. Seriously think that doing the cake entirely in fondant would have been much easier, but friend wanted buttercream. Also finished literally 5 minutes before she picked it up, so crappy pics are all that I have.

Rainbow Cake
Cake is 6" (about 7" tall!) rainbow cake covered in swiss meringue buttercream. Ruffles and flowers are gumpaste. Flowers were an afterthought, I really wanted the ruffles to go up 2/3rds of the cake then put the multi-colored flower on the side. Didn't work out so I had to brainstorm a plan B.

Brushed Embroidery
WASC cake with swiss meringue buttercream frosting and brushed embroidery with RI. Buttercream was chilled overnight and held up okay overall with the brushed embroidery, but you can see how it was beginning to soften on my last flower. Probably should have chilled it again, but just wanted to push through. Brushed embroidery is much easier with fondant! Flowers are made with gumpaste. Customer's mother's birthday is Christmas, celebrating at Thanksgiving, so wanted a touch of Christmas in the decorations.
