The year 6 students voted that they would like their new school jumper for their graduation cake this year. I have been making the end of year cake for about 8 years now.
I belong to a group of people called Cake Angels which is a volunteer program whereby we make cakes for sick children for free. Today I had the privilege of making a cake for a group called Very Special Kids who support sick children and their families. Today's party was for the siblings of sick children, with a theme of COLOURFUL. i hope the children enjoyed the cake! And inside it was colourful white mud cake.
66 Mustang replicated in cake based on the photos of the birthday boy's own car. It was about 19"longx 7" long.
Vintage car for an 80 year old who is doing up his own Fiat. The car was about 17" long and choc mud.
Lots of details in this guitar to make it look like the birthday boy's guitar. Trying to hand paint the exact colour was a challenge.

i was asked to copy the birthday boy's old xd ford in cake. Client sent me 4 photos and this is what i came up with. Cake was 22" long x 10"wide.
Loved making this cake. first time covering a whole tier in hand painting and first time covering a whole tier in gold. It was scary doing the writing though. And i am not known for my flowers or sharp edges - a bit out of my comfort zone.
I made this at a workshop a couple of weeks ago. Sponge cake inside, covered in fondant an edible lace.

My friend Susy sent me a photo of herself sitting on her couch, wearing a special outfit and asked me to recreate it for her birthday party. Her theme was red white and black. I think i pulled it off.
I was so lucky to attend a workshop last weekend run by Elizabeth Marek from Artisan Cake Company. Such an amazing experience. The busts were made using a chocolate mould and covered in modelling chocolate and fondant.

I made this cake for a competition. The theme was "modern wedding cake-inspired by colour". I made a variety of airbrushed/piped/embossed/silver leaf mosaic tiles for the bottom tier, silver leaf for the middle and air brushed with home made stencil of a daisy and sugar daisies on top. Hand made figurines.
I downloaded blueprints to make this car to scale. It was 45cms x 20cms.
I made this for my son's friend. The birthday girl really wants a piano, so her boyfriend ordered one out of cake. I personalised it with her favourite song on the top of the piano, her name on the front, Happy Birthday music on the stand and a Happy Birthday message on the stool. The cake is basically 8" square and the board is free hand and hand painted wooden floor boards.

hand painted school logo graduation cake
I have been making the Year 6 graduation cakes for a number of years now, just a simple 8" with the school logo and cupcakes. This year i suggested something different - a replica of the school's backpack. The staff were a little hesitant at first with the change, but were soon impressed with the results. The cake was all choc mud, covered in white fondant and then air brushed blue. It stood about 12" tall x 9" wide.
The client sent me a photo of Michelle with her favourite toys and her invitation. The pink swirl roses on the side were on the invitation.
