My Redfin Fish
This is been a major focus of mine for about a week now. Also an entry to a local show this weekend. The fish is totally edible (mud cake) and is suspended from the fishing rod. The rod is made from steel courtesy of my awesome husband, while the reel is from LCM bars and some of his fishing line. It was pretty tricky transporting it to the showgrounds last night, in fact the tail broke and i had to try and stick it back on with royal icing, and one fin got a crack in it. Very annoying. But more annoying is that i think it is the only entry in the category of novelty (carved) cake. I would have liked some competition. It's got lots of small flaws in the execution/technical side, but hopefully the 'wow' factor is there. The fish is about 30cms long - not a bad catch. And i am really loving my new airbrush- the fish has about 15 layers of paint on it! I have only used it about three times now.

Retirement For A French Teacher
I made this for my son's French teacher's retirement party. I included a teacher frog wearing a beret and French scarf with three little student froggies, some books, an apple, a plate of croissants and a blackboard. Red and green apples adorned the outside. Lots of fun to make.

Last Minute Wedding Order!
Interesting story behind this cake. I saw on Facebook on Monday night someone needed a wedding cake for today (Saturday). They were from my area so I PM'd her, met her 7.30am Tuesday morning, got confirmation a couple of hours later and then the mad rush began! I also had an 8", 4", 10", 7" and 30 cupcakes for the week. It all came together though and I had plenty of time to spare believe it or not.
