Christmas Cake Balls
Novelty Christmas Puddings made from Rum & Raisin Chocolate Mudcake cake ball mix
My first wedding cake - 3 tier with the bottom in Choc Mud, middle Caramel Mud & top White Choc Mud. All tiers were torted twice and filled with either a dark choc, caramel or white choc truffle. Covered with white choc ganache and ivory fondx. Decorated with pink fondant ribbon and finished off with cashous balls, sugar diamonds and 7 handmade gumpaste oriental lillies. Ribbon joined with diamante and pink catseye brooch.
Trick Or Treat
Beginners cake :) Devils cake covered with Swiss Meringue buttercream (first time ever using that! tastes awesome!). Found the buttercream harder to use when compared to smoothing out fondant.. yet buttercream tastes so darn good! Cupcakes are a vanilla buttercake again topped with the buttercream. Characters are mmf colored with Americolor super black gel (great!) cut with cricut machine (a first using fondant in cricut - used a bit of tylose - great cut)
First Love is dedicated to me :) It is my first attempt at covering a cake with fondant (mmf).. first time using Sugarveil.. and my very first use of my cricut machine. Also used a pasta maker to press the purple ribbon.. this was obviously a first for me too :) I have taught myself by flicking through the vast and helpful information, ideas and tips found in the CC forums (thanks to all!) I also found a great site called monkeysee.com that has 'how to' video tutorials.. here is where I learnt how to crumb coat and lay fondant (used my own homemade buttercream recipe.. delicious!). Using the Sugarveil was a unique experience.. such and amazing product.. seriously though, I think I fluked it first time round lol. As I did with my first use fo the Cricut Cake.. omg how in love I am with this machine. Perfect cut with the sugarveil first time round. I was happy with how the cake turned out visually and it was also so damn tasty without being sickly.. bonus!
Werewolf & Vampire Theme
Idea from "Hello Cupcake". Google Were wolf cupcakes to find a link to make these scarey little sweet cups. I think I got the idea for the vampire bites from CC originally. The 7" cake in the middle is a chocolate mud coated with choc ganache. Dodgy last minute frosting greeting.. oops lol
Birthday Butterfly Cupcake Tower
Vanilla and Devils Chocolate cupcakes. Decorated with frosting and white chocolate stenciled butterflies
Little Miss P
1st Birthday Cake for daughter.. pink pig based on her favourite soft toy 'Little Miss P' Vanilla butter cake baked from scratch. Cheated with frosting - thanks Betty Crocker instant vanilla frosting in a tub ;o) tinted the colour appropriately. Used marshmellow to mould the shape of the nose and piggy trotters. Choc chips for eyes.
Cupcakes For Ocea!
These were made for a close friend to celebrate the birth of her little girl. I made these vanilla cupcakes from a recipe on taste.com.au. The actual cake tasted fabulous.. I topped them with a classic butter frosting.. marshmellow flowers and obviously sprinkles to finish. To add a special touch I wrapped them all seperately in tissue paper and finished them off with curling ribbon (very fiddley!!)
Just Starting Out
No idea really lol.. but just starting out by having a bit of fun and utilising what I have in the cupboards. I cheated and used a tacky chocolate cupcake packet mix.. eeeww... just a classic butter icing (never really used a piping bag.. can you tell lol?!!) used marshmellows for the flowers and icing pens for finer detail.. along with the standard sprinkles. Just purchased a "Hello cupcake" decorating book so I can become a bit more serious ;o)
