Iowa Bound!
Chocolate cake with chocolate whipped cream frosting filling and covering the cake. Hawkeye and wording are buttercream. Hawkeye was originally a FBCT, my first attempt, and I made it two days in advance and it was in the freezer. Not sure if it was frozen for too long or not, as some of the smaller parts broke or smeared. So once it was on the cake, I went over it with the colors. Parents were very happy with it. TFL

Thank You!
This was actually just a small thank you cake I made for one of my customers who has been so gracious to me and lets me be creative with her orders. So, I thought I'd say thanks with this six inch round french vanilla cake with cookies and cream filling, chocolate frosting and fondant gerbera daisies. I love how it turned out!! TFL!

Tommy's First Communion
Yellow cake with french vanilla buttercream filling and frosting. Chalice and wine were made of MMF and painted with gold luster dust. Bible and rosary were made from gumpaste (at the last minute), Host was just a plain white chocolate melting wafer. Different colored squares were colored and molded white chocolate. Little white cross was suppose to be white chocolate as well but after three of them broke coming out of the mold...I used gumpaste! TFL!!

2011 Teacher Appreciation Cupcakes
These cupcakes were for the teacher's at my son's grammar school for teacher appreciation week. The teacher's have been so good to them, as they usually are, and begged the PTO not to have a luncheon for them this year, as they wanted the money that would have been spent on it, to go back to their students...so the PTO asked me to come up with a little thank you for them. 100 cupcakes went to the school in 4 different flavors. Chocolate with a hint of mint, filled and covered with mint buttercream frosting made to look like an old green chalkboard (should have put a border on them tho), apple spice cupcakes with caramel flavored buttercream with a preztel and a MMF leaf, chocolate cream filled cupcakes with a piece of notebook paper and a pencil, and snickerdoodle cupcake with french vanilla b/c dusted w/ cinnamon and sugar with MMF books on top. These little things took a lot longer than I EVER expected...hence the rush job on the notebook ones and no borders! All in all the teachers loved them, and I was happy they did!! TFL

Tospy Turvy Bridal Bling
First time with a topsy turvy cake (besides doing the practice cake--which turned out easier to do than this!). Also, first time using Isomalt. I made the diamond 5 times between isomalt and venuance pearls and this was the best out of all of them although the color was a little off and there were still bubbles. Cakes were nothing special, bride likes it plain, so they are yellow and 'funfetti' with vanilla buttercream and fondant accents. Ring is gumpaste painted with a silver luster dust/vodka mix. Even though the bottom tier collapsed and I made another 3 layers late at night, I was very happy with the result of this being my first. I hope to try it again, and have it be much better!! TFL!

The Little Mermaid
White cake with fresh strawberries and french vanilla buttercream frosting. Ariel and flounder were made from fondant....and boy do I need work on mouths..I find it the hardest to do! The first Ariel face I made looked the best...but of course I didnt like it so I smashed it and made it 3 more times, getting this one...which I was still not happy with, but the 4 year old loved it! Seashells were made with white chocolate in a mold and dusted with luster dust. First time trying coral from sugar, and I think it turned out ok. Thanks for all the forums on that!

Lisas Baby Blocks
These blocks are 4x4x4, and there are 12 of them. Took me a lot longer to do than I originally thought, but fun to do. Half are yellow with strawberry cream filling, half are chocolate with chocolate fudge filling, all covered in french vanilla buttercream and fondant accents. Almost forgot the best part of this.....I took the order from a friends mom, who just HAD to have this in 3 days...so I hurry and make it all and deliver it to the shower to find out the mom gave me the wrong day...it was the next day...so I brought it all home for it not to fit in my fridge (board was 3/4 inch too big) so the blocks were taken off, and put back on the next day! so much fun ;) TFL!

Happy Birthday Julie!
Birthday cake for a fellow caker and co-worker :) chocolate cake with chocolate fudge filling and chocolate frosting with fondant accents and bow. I tried making the loopy bow, but I am just horrible at it...so this is the bow I ended up with...still wasn't too happy with it, but the cake was a hit and gone within a few hours!

Baby Boy Rattle
Nothing fancy here...customer wanted white cake with vanilla buttercream frosting covering and filling the cakes. Fondant accents and chocolate fondant bow I let harden for a few days. After I pushed down the white swirls, when I stepped back, I realized I went a little crazy on them...a little too much. But she absolutely loved it! She kept hugging me saying it was beautiful, and just perfect. I was very happy about this cake. TFL :)

Caillou And Friends
Okay, again forgot to take a picture before I gave the cake away :( This cake looked a lot better befpre it left my hands...but it was fun to do! My kids kept reminding me of little things on each of the characters, it was hilarious! So, this is Caillou, Rosie, Clementine and Gilbert the cat in Caillou's sandbox. Caillou was holding the beach ball, and Clementine had the shovel...but after transport I guess they got moved. I imprinted the wood pattern for the sides to try to make it look like their sandbox, but it is hard to see, and it appears in the picture that the cream cheese frosting underneath had started to soften up b/c the sides are sagging and spitting apart...again not like that originally but the 2year old loved it and I was told that he had his arms wrapped around it almost the entire party! Banana cake w/ cream cheese frosting wrapped in fondant with fondant figures on top and graham crackers for the sand...in the middle was suppose to be a sand castle...TFL

Yellow Brick Road
This was an absolute rush (for me at least), customer called on Tuesday and and wanted this cake for Saturday night, and I still work my "real" job! So she sent me a photo of a cake that she found online, that looked very similar to this, but couldnt remember where she found it. After she picked it up, she told me where she found it and when I searched for it, I found that the credit goes to Sharon Zambito, Sugared Productions! I am almost embarrassed to put this up, because it is not NEARLY as nice as hers, but I am still proud of it. Marble cake with bavarian cream filling, b/c frosting under Rhondas Ultimate MMF (awesome!), with white chocolate suckers, rainbow, and Ruby Slippers. Witches hat is an ice cream cone covered in frosting, and the melted witch is also chocolate. Broom and flowers are fondant, and grass is piped b/c. Thanks so much Sharon for the wonderful idea, and TFL!

Sydneys Baptism Cake
This was for a baby girls baptism. It is yellow and fudge marbled cake with chocolate fudge filling, covered in french vanilla buttercream, with buttercream roses. I forgot to take a picture of the cake before it was picked up (I was so mad!), so this picture is from the customer...and yes, the cake is smudged on the bottom right, however it was NOT before it left my hands! TFL

Lyndas Goofy
Last minute cake for my Aunt Lyndas birthday. She loves Goofy, so I thought what else would suit her better?! Devils food cake with chocolate fudge filling, & chocolate b/c frosting. Goofy was hand drawn on the cake all in buttercream. Lots of Firsts for me believe it or not....the fudge filling, flavoring my b/c with Hershey's syrup and cocoa powder (didnt have enough powder), and first for hand drawing. Of course the baker tasted it all before assembling, and Im pleased with the results! Hope Aunt Lynda is too! TFL :)

My First Topsy Turvy Whimsical Cake-Dirty Iced
Okay, this is a practice cake for a bridal shower I will be doing next month. I have always wanted to try these topsy turvy cakes, and now I have a reason. So, I read and studied the article "How To Make a Topsy-Turvy Whimsical Cake" by Jackie, I believe, and it was an awesome tutorial, thank you!! I know this cake is only dirty iced, and excuse the dirty kitchen behind the cake, lol, but any suggetions?? I feel like mine doesnt look like others...is it b/c its not decorated yet, or is my top tier too short comared to the bottom, is it not slanted enough, or is it b/c I used scrap cakes and icing cuz its practice??!!!? Any help would be great..thanks!!!

Truffle Cake Gift Box
Thanks for all the wonderful designs and pictures of others who have done this candied gift box cake. Not sure if Bakerella was the first, but I definitely remembered her name, so thank you! I realized as I was putting on the truffles, that I didn't make the sides tall enough to make the chocolates look like they were actually "IN" a box. Oopps, this was the first for me, and I will ABSOLUTELY do it again! So much fun. Cake was chocolate with b/c frosting covered in fondant. Truffles were homemade, peanut butter centers, covered in chocolate and rolled in nuts, sprinkles, or more chocolate...they were delish!

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse cake, with Mickey hat smash, made for my friend's son who turned one! Base cake is 11x15, chocolate cake, vanilla mousse filling and french vanilla buttercream frosting. Mickeys body (the red part) is banana cake covered in B/C then fondant, Mickeys hand, arm, foot, leg, and big round head all RKT covered in B/C and fondant. Everything is edibile except for the neck, which is a one inch PVC pipe that is running through the base cake and Mickeys body, going to his big head :) The Mickey hat smash cake is also a banana cake made just for Carter. Mickey ears were attached with melted chocolate. The fene and stars were fondant, with my best "Disney Font" handwriting I had! This was so much fun to put together, but it did take me forever, as this was a first in this type of construction for me. Thanks so much for all the great pictures of other Clubhouse cakes here on CC, they were all great inspirations!

Jungle Animal Baby Shower
Yellow and Chocolate cake with strawberry cream filling and buttercream frosting. Animals (although I am not fond of the colors) were made to match the invitations and all of the party goods. Lion, cobra, blocks, bibs, bottles and rattle were all made from fondant. Zebra and giraffe were made from modeling chocolate, and the elephant was made from marzipan, & wasn't too happy with how he looked. First time using marzipan....good textured look for the elephant, but didn't seem that easy to use (very sticky)----what did I do wrong, any suggestions?? Anyways, this was a fun one, wierd animal colors, but fun! TFL!!

Charlene's 18Th Birthday Cake
This cake was for my niece, who's birthday was never really celebrated until now, so I thought I'd try something special for her. She loves to read, bowl and swim, so I tried to incorporate all three in this cake. Didn't turn out as good in person as it looked in my head, but she loved it! Two 12x18's stacked then carved to a book shape. Yellow with strawberry creme filling and chocolate with french vanilla mousse filling. Vanilla buttercream frosting with all fondant accents. Pool water is tinted piping gel. Most accents were done in purple because it's her favorite color. My starting block broke as I was moving it, so it's being held up by a toothpick... oh well!!! TFL!

Richard And Cathy's Wedding Cake
My very first wedding cake! 6, 10, and 14 inch squares with SugarShacks buttercream recipe (to die for, so thank you!!) with diamond imprint and violet sugar pearls. Roses were all done in white gumpaste and then sprayed because my colored gumpaste and fondant kept turning green, and the purple modeling chocolate I made was a very yucky purple color! Intial plaque was made from fondant as were the bottom borders. The plaque was a little less "Hannah Montana" the night before the reception, but it too changed color and I had to paint it, I should have known! I watched Sharon Zambito's videos, and although I definitely did not PERFECT the art of buttercream, I was very happy with how mine improved, including my corners!! Thank you so much Sharon for all of your tips!! TFL

South Elgin Patriots
This cake was a 2 layer 12x18, carved to the shape of the little boy's football league logo. I was told later that it is also the New England Patriots logo..shows how much I know about pro football! Buttercream frosting with fondant red and blue logo. Logo / face was all done by hand, just looking at their picture.

Mom's Birthday Cake
Tried to throw a few things together at the last minute here for my mom's birthday. Not the smoothest job here, but first time using the diamond shape pattern and the edible pearls. The flowers were fondant and royal icing that I had left over from awhile ago. Lemon cake with raspberry filling and raspberry flavored b/c frosting. I wasn't too happy w/ the rush job I did, but then felt much better after the waitress at the restaurant told me it looked AND tasted better than her wedding cake just last month. I was shocked, and felt very bad for her!! Hahaha, thanks for looking :)
