Yellow Crayon
This was a yellow crayon with a bite taken out for my mom's birthday. It seems a little unusual but when she was a little girl she ALWAYS tried to eat the yellow crayon from the box, but it never tasted so good, her favorite color is still yellow. It has been a family joke for years and I wanted to make her a specail cake for her 50th birthday. The party theme was "50 and FUN". The cake was a chocolate cake roll fille with cheesecake bavarian cream. It was sliced and served with a chocolate cookie, chocolate syrup, ice cream and a fruit sish-kabob at her birthday tea party. It was a lot of fun!!! It was covered with MMF and the "paper" under it was MMF too. Very easy to make, about 1 1/2 hours.

Strawberry Shorcake
This cake was made for a little girl's strawberry shortcake themed birthday party. The chocolate cake was filled and covered with BC. For the picture on the top I rolled out a sheet of MMF and painted on it with edible colors. Painting on MMF it a little tricky, but I'm getting used to it. It doesn't leave much room for error.

Little Girl's Birthday Cake
This cake was painted to match the party invite. It was a chocolate cake with BC in the middle and on the outside. I rolled out a thin piece of MMF and painted on it with edible paints. Once the top was painted, I airbrushed the sides and edges of the top and lastly added the borders and sprinkles. They loved it because it matched all their decorations.

Flowers In Flower Pots
This cake was a lot of fun and fairly easy too. It was a butter pecan cake with butter becan BC and vanilla MMF. The "dirt" was dried chocolate cake crumbs, pecans and heath bars ground together, yumm. The flowers were gum paste or fondant. The cake board was covered with MMF then etched and painted to look like slats of wood. This was so fun to make and so far I think it's my favorite of my cakes.

Raiders Cake
This was a chocolate cake filled with double chocolate and chocolate shavings. Then it was iced with chocolate buttercream and covered with fondant. The face was hand painted so no, it's not perfect. Once I painted it I covered it with celo and airbrushed the rest of the cake black. The "Raiders" letters were made of white chocolate. My customer loved it.

"ice Age" Cake Of 'scrat"
This was for my son's first birthday. He loved the "Ice Age" movies and this was a cute scene when 'Scrat' got his head stuck in the ice. The "ice" was made of poured sugar that was tinted blue, then I placed it on dowels so it was sitting a few inches above the "water". I painted little sugar cubes to look like ice cubes with the acorn. The cake was covered with butter cream and air brushed. The little 'Scrat' was made of cake and fondant, but my cake wasn't sturdy enough so as he sat there he got fatter and fatter, Next time I will use a pound cake. It was a real trick trying to get his arms to stay up around the ice.

3D Santa Cake
This is a fun Christmas cake. The middle was red velvit and cream cheese covered in fondant. I hand painted to fondant to look like the holiday theme so that the cake would still look really good even when the Santa was removed. The Santa was chocolate sponge cake and I had a bit of trouble carving it because I couldn't find my 3D pan that I wanted to use, but he turned out really cute. I tried to add detial to his face with rosey cheeks and nose. My customer loved it.

Baby Dragon Sleeping On A Stump
This was my first 3D cake and I was very pleased with it. It was huge with 6 cakes baked and carved. It took me a long time but it was a lot of fun! I made it because my local newspaper wanted to do a profile on me and I wanted to show my town what I could do ( even though I wasn't sure I could). The dragon and stump were both cake. For the dragon I started with a 3D cake mold for a rubber duck, but you would never know it :). The stump was fun because it didn't have to be perfectly smooth, after all it was to look like bark. The best part of this cake was the air brushing, I LOVE to airbrush. The only not edible parts to this cake was a dowel in the limb and the cake board. I did a lot of little detials out of fondant, butterflies, mushrooms and ladybugs. I also got really detailed with the dragon and went as far to paint little tiny toe nails sticking out from under her belly.

Skull Cake
This was a cake for a halloween party. The cake was marbled with red and black food coloring and filled with raspberry jam and black frosting, It was coated in butter cream and fondant. I then airbrushed the fondant and added royal icing for the black drips. Butter cream held the skulls in place and it was also used for the border. I have had so many people request this cake for events that I wouldn't usually make it for, graduation and birthdays. It is one of my most popular cakes to my suprise.

"finding Nemo" Cake
This cake took a little while to mold and paint all the figures out of fondant, but it was well worth it. It was covered with fondant that was tinted with blue that wansn't mixed in all the way to give it the wave look. The only not edible part is the turtle shell, but next time I'll make it out of chocolate.

Daffodil Cake
This was a fast birthday cake that was two layers of rich moist sponge cake with double chocolate filling and covered with fondant. I then painted on it with food coloring. This kind of a cake could be fun to make and let children paint on it. I would love to know who is looking at my cakes and what you think... good or bad. So I encourage you to leave me a comment. Thanks :)
