Cream Lace Wedding Cake
Well, here it is my friends....the cake I've been preparing for since last week! I based my design on these cakes by Rebecca Sutterby. I've been dying to do this design for a while, and I was pretty much given total creative control of this cake. It was for my step-brother's wedding and his bride-to-be told me the colors and that she liked square cakes and told me to surprise her. So I did! I decided to use lace on the one side instead of the damask stenciling, because the bride's dress was lace. It's a four tier cake frosted in buttercream and then covered in white chocolate fondant. Fondant ribbon detailing down one side. Lace molds were used to create the design on the other side. All the flowers were handmade. The bride and groom loved the cake and so did all the guests! It was a lot of work, but well worth it. My picture is not the best, but I'm really pleased with how the cake turned out and can't wait to see the professional pictures of it.

Baby Shower Carriage Cake
Baby shower cake for a co-worker of my mom. They were hosting a "Grandmother" baby shower for her. My mom said that the grandmother-to-be wanted lots and lots of pink, so that's what I did! I love the baby carriage cakes that I've been seeing lately, so I went with that design. It's a 6" cake in buttercream. Quilted with sugar pearls, ribbon roses and a baby carriage. It says "welcome baby" on the cake board, but you can't really see it because of the ribbon. Oh, well...I LOVE the ribbon, so I had to use it!

Lace Peony Cake
I had cake, frosting and extra flowers left over from a wedding cake, so I decided to make a cake just for fun so I could try out some new cake toys. This is a 6" cake frosted in buttercream. I used my lace mold for the decorations around the cake and then displayed it on my new cake stand. I really love the look of the lace, so I think I'll have to get some more of these molds to use. :-)

Purple Floral Wedding Cake
Purple and white floral wedding cake. It's a 5"/7"/12" cake frosted in buttercream with fondant, gumpaste and piped decorations. The flowers are sort of a free form peony and the edges were painted with silver. (Purple sure is a hard color to photograph! It looks more blue in the picture than it was in real life.)

Bright & Fun Birthday Cake
Birthday cake for a Sesame Street themed 1st birthday party. It's a 5"/8" cake frosted in buttercream with fondant and gumpaste decorations. (I don't talk about this often, but I have a cake stand addiction....check out my new yellow cake stand I found at an antique store. It was only $11! Perfect to add to my collection....love it!)

Lingerie Bachelorette Party Cake
This cake was for a bachelorette party. Originally started as a carved, full torso cake, but since they didn't need 60-70 servings of cake, we went with the 1D picture of lingerie instead. It's an 8x11 sheet cake frosted in buttercream with fondant and gumpaste decorations. Lingerie design is based on a picture I was provided.

Clothesline Baby Shower Cake
I forgot to get a picture of this one before it got boxed up. :-( Based on a previous design, but I changed up the colors and the trees just a little bit. It's a 12" square cake frosted in buttercream with fondant and gumpaste decorations. I liked how this one turned out. The idea for the leaves came from another baby shower cake I saw here: www.flickr.com/photos/jgaut11/5802217284/in/faves-9291643...

Bright & Funky Birthday Cake
This cake was for my niece's birthday. It's a 7"/9" frosted in buttercream with fondant and gumpaste decorations. The writing is supposed to look like graffiti. Color and design requested by my niece. I feel like it has an 80's vibe to it - lol! She plays softball, and and asked for the softball topper.

Funky Zebra Birthday Cake
A fun and funky zebra stripe cake for a 10th birthday. I've done this same style and color combination several times, so I wanted to change up the design just a bit. It's a 5"/8" cake frosted in buttercream. Decorations are fondant and gumpaste. Thank you to Cakes Infinity (Jessica) on Flickr for her wonderful zebra cake topper that inspired mine.

Slumber Party Birthday Cake
A birthday cake to celebrate a 9th birthday and a first slumber party! The bed is the cake - it's approximately 6x10. Frosted in buttercream and then covered in fondant. Nightstands are crispy cereal treats covered in fondant. Other details are fondant and gumpaste. I had such fun making this cake. This was my first time modeling people and I'm really pleased with how the whole cake turned out! I do want to say thank you to several people on Flickr who inspired me when I was looking for ideas for this cake. There are so many fabulous cakers that it is hard to just name a few, but thank you to: Bella Cupcakes for your wonderful figures, Twisted Sugar and Fantasticakes for your great slumber party cakes, Dot Klerck cause your figures and cakes are just superb and there are lots more I could name, but I better stop. :-)

Baseball Birthday Cake
Cake for a young man celebrating his 8th birthday. The red, white and navy colors are to match his baseball team colors. Quarter sheet cake frosted in buttercream. Letters are gumpaste. Baseball bat is made from crispy cereal and then covered in fondant. I had original planned to just do a "flat" picture of the bat on top of the cake, but decided to go with the 2D version instead. I'm really happy with how it turned out and the birthday boy's mom loved it. Said it was a "big hit"!

Stars And Stripes Birthday Cake
This cake was created for an Elmo themed 1st birthday party. I was asked to make it more "girly", so the buttercream was tinted pink and I decided to add some bows to up the girly factor. It's a 6"/9" cake frosted in buttercream with fondant and gumpaste decorations. Also included a dozen matching cupcakes.

Turtle Baby Shower Cake
Turtle Cake for a baby shower. I love how the turtle turned out...he's one of my favorite figures! It's an 8" cake frosted in buttercream. Decorations are fondant. Turtle is made from krispy cereal and then covered in fondant. Not sure where the original design came from. The party planners sent me the picture of the cake they wanted, so if you recognize the design, please let me know!

Pink Puppy Princess Birthday Cake
Cake for my niece's 3rd birthday party. I asked her what kind of cake she wanted and after showing her several pics, she picked the puppy cake by Debbie Brown. I would periodically ask my SIL if she still wanted the puppy cake, and Josie was telling everyone that she was going to have a pink puppy princess birthday cake. (We have no idea where the princess part came from - lol!) So, you here you have the Pink Puppy Princess Birthday Cake! I used the 6" half ball pan and the 8" soccer ball pan to make the puppy. Frosted in buttercream and covered in white chocolate fondant. There is chocolate cake, pink vanilla cake and strawberry cupcakes with bones, 3's and crowns.

Hot Air Balloon Birthday Cake
Cake done for my nephew's first birthday party! It's hard to believe he's a year old already! I used a soccer ball pan (about 9" round) and a 10" square to create the balloon. It's a yellow cake with chocolate buttercream filling. Frosted in vanilla buttercream and then covered in white chocolate fondant. The "clouds" are lemon cupcakes and frosted in vanilla buttercream. They used one of the "clouds" as the smash cake. The elephant and other decorations are fondant & gumpaste. Based on the cake design by Sweet Tiers. And my elephant was based on the figures done by The CakeChef. You can find them both on Flickr. I was so happy with how this cake turned out and everyone loved it! Happy Birthday Matthew!

Antique Floral Wedding Cake
Antique Floral Wedding Cake It's an 8"/10"/12" combination. Vanilla cake, lemon cake with lemon filling and chocolate cake with raspberry filling. Frosted in buttercream and covered in white chocolate fondant. Decorations are made from fondant and gumpaste. Most everything was either hand painted or dusted. I also included pictures of the two satellite cakes. One is a 6" and one is a 9" both covered in fondant and piping done in royal icing. Thanks to inspiration from the Caketress, Sweetapolita, Superfine Bakery and everyone who has been doing the ruffle, ribbon, antique, fantasy flower cakes. You can check them out on Flickr. Thanks to Let's Make a Cake on Facebook for the tutorial on the ruffle flowers. Lots of great inspiration out there! The bride brought me a picture from Martha Stewart magazine as inspiration for the satellite cakes.
