Topsy Turvy Birthday Cake
Topsy Turvy or Mad Hatter Birthday Cake. The cake is a 6"/8"/10" combination frosted in buttercream. Decorated with fondant and gumpaste. Ball trim is Sixlet candy. There was also a smash cake and 6 dozen marshmallow pops to go along with the cake. I didn't get a picture of all the goodies together though. This was my first topsy turvy cake and boy, was it stressful! I'm undecided if I would ever attempt another one. After a 40 minute delivery drive that included lots of bumps, curves and hills on a country backroad.....my nerves were shot! It made it in one piece with no problems I could detect and they loved it, so that's what's important.

Daisy Birthday Cake
This cake was to celebrate a 60th birthday. Based on a design by Rebecca Sutterby. This is a 4"/6" cake frosted in buttercream with fondant and gumpaste decorations. For this cake I got to do Red Velvet with a cream cheese filling and the bottom tier is a Coconut Cake with lime curd filling and Coconut buttercream frosting. Yum!! (Most of my cake are usually chocolate, vanilla, strawberry or chocolate chip. Glad for some new flavors!)

Pink Present Birthday Cake
Gift box cake for a lady celebrating her 65th birthday. It's a surprise party. They are using bright spring colors to decorate with. I decided to use the same basic design for both cakes and just change the colors up a bit. See my other photos for the yellow version. I'm pleased with how they turned out!

Blue & White Quilted Cake
Dummy cake I worked on today to practice my piping skills for a wedding cake I've got coming up this summer. 6"/8" styrofoam dummies covered in fondant. Piping done with royal icing. Cake has a different pattern on the back half of the bottom tier so I could practice three different designs. Check out the other pic for the other pattern on the bottom tier.

Owl Birthday Cake
I love how this Owl Birthday Cake for a 1st birthday party turned out! The design is based on those owl party supplies that are so popular right now. It's a 5"/8"/12" frosted in buttercream with fondant and gumpaste decorations. The owl smash cake is a 5" cake and a 6" half ball cake. I carved it slightly for a little better shape. It's frosted in buttercream with a few candy decor pieces.

Construction Theme Birthday Cake
The very first farm cake I did was for this little boy's 1st birthday. This year his parents went with a construction theme. I had such fun making this cake! It's a 6" & 9" cake with buttercream frosting. Decorations are fondant and gumpaste. Construction equipment and safety cone were formed from krispy cereal and then covered in fondant. Some of the rocks are fondant and some are chocolate candy rocks. I looked at lots of construction cakes for inspiration, but the main one I really used was from Deb's Custom Cakes.

Softball Birthday Cake
I did a softball cake back in November and a friend of that little girl wanted a softball cake for her birthday too. So, I had to come up with something slightly different since they are friends and don't want the same cake! :-) This is an 8" round frosted in buttercream with fondant decorations. Softball is styrofoam covered in fondant. I tried to make the softball look like it had been hit so hard it was flying up through the clouds headed toward the sun.

Unbirthday Tea Party Cake
I just got done with a three day Balance Class with Kaysie Lackey of The People's Cake which is located in Seattle, Washington. She's won two different Food Network Extreme Cake challenges! The class was so much fun and so informative! And Kaysie is such a sweetheart and was so happy to share her cake knowledge with the class! The round table is a 12" cake. The teapot is a 9" cake and the tea cup is a 6" cake. Thanks again to Kaysie for such a great class! I'm really happy with how my cake turned out! Cake Central is offering this same class in Austin, TX and Seattle, WA. If you have a chance to take this class - do it! Excellent class!

Rainbow Butterflies Birthday Cake
Just finished up this cake for my niece's birthday party tonight. She wanted a butterfly cake. I really like the cakes that have been done with all the rainbow butterflies, so that's the direction I went. I had a picture of a cake that I used for my inspiration, but now I can't figure out where I saved it from. I'll update with a link when I find it! It's a 9" cake with buttercream frosting. Decorations are fondant and gumpaste. **Update** Original inspiration came from Nadine's Cakes on Flickr.

Batman & Robin Theme Birthday Cake
I was asked if I could create a cake like the Batman & Robin cake by Sweet Pudgy Panda on Flickr. Here is my version of SPP's wonderful cake (all of her cakes are fabulous!). It's a 6"/9" marble cake covered in buttercream and fondant. Cupcakes are chocolate with chocolate buttercream and chocolate chip with cream cheese frosting. Cupcake decorations are fondant. The customer had figures to go on top of the cake.

Jungle Birthday Cake
I had a blast with this cake! The customer sent me a drawing of what she wanted and here is the result! It's an 8" square and a 6" round. Frosted in buttercream with fondant and gumpaste details. I also got inspiration from another cake I saw on Flickr for the lion topper and the trim around each tier: www.flickr.com/photos/41132251@N06/5135009973/

Present Birthday Cake
My first time doing one of the very popular "package" cakes. Customer requested a square cake with a bow and using the colors pink and brown. Really pleased with how it turned out! It's an 8" cake covered in white chocolate fondant. Thank you to my Flickr friend Christina for the info on how to make the loopy bow - much better than how I've been making them up til now!

Nautical Baby Shower Cake
This cake is for my SIL's baby shower. They are doing the nursery in a nautical theme. It's a 9" square sheet cake. Covered in white chocolate fondant. Decorations are fondant. (The picture made the background look brighter blue than it really is - it's more of a baby blue.) The design inspiration came from an invitation I found online.

Girly Farm Birthday Cake
This makes my fourth farm cake, but this time I got to make it girly! I had such fun making this cake! It's a 6"/9" with a 5" smash cake. Buttercream frosting with fondant and gumpaste decorations. I have to give a big thanks to several wonderful decorators on Flickr that I got my inspiration from: cakesbysugargirl, fantasticakes, sutterby, bellacupcakes, little cottage cupcakes
