Shark Cake!
I did this cake for my friend, Dawn Smith's, 40th birthday. She loves sharks and had jokingly asked me to make her one many times. Altho Dawn and I have known each other for 5 yrs we had never met face to face. In 2007 we met in cyberland on an ostomy support forum after we both almost died from colon ruptures only 2 months apart. She helped me keep my sanity thru what was the absolute worst time of my life, bar none. We became very close and she's like a sister to me, however we live in different countries so meeting face to face was a bit difficult. She lives in New Hampshire and I live in Toronto...but I told her I was going to meet her this year, one way or another. So her 40th birthday rolled around and her lovely girlfriend, Susan, and I planned it all out and my BF and I drove down to surprise her. It was epic! :) There were tears...very happy ones. :,))

"thou Shalt Have No Other Gods Before Me."
These sugar figures were done for a fellow teacher at Bonnie Gordon College. It was for a cake she was doing for her daughter's Bat Mitzvah and she was also going to do some painting detail on the figures. Her daughter was retelling the story of the 10 commandments at Synagog and the cake was to celebrate that. There were also 2 praying men included in the grouping. They are all made from fondant and tylose.

Weed Man Retirement Cake
The final design has the Weed Man logo across the fence but I can't show it due to copyrights. The little house is made from rice crispies and gumpaste and everything else is gumpaste. The grass on the board is coloured coconut. I was going to put it on the cake too but there was so much colour in it that I figured it wouldn't be very nice to eat so just kept it to the board. Those are little bags of Weed Man lawn fertilizer leaning against the house. I had a horrible time with the piping. I think I scraped it off and redid it about 10 times. Stupid shaky hands. : ( 9" vanilla cake with raspberry preserves and vanilla buttercream.

Zombie Matryoshka Doll Cake
The 1st 2 dolls (on the left) are cake (chocolate and chocolate BC). The other 2 dolls are rice krispies and the duck is gumpaste. All hand painted. Yep...that's a zombie duck. The birthday girl likes zombies, Matryoshka dolls and ducks. I think I've got everything covered.

Daisy, The Flower Fairy
**for those who might be wondering, no, I can't do tutorials as per my contract with the school** I teach how to make this little fairy at Bonnie Gordon College in Toronto. My class will change in the new year when I'll be teaching the standing bride and groom figure. I'm really looking forward to teaching something new!

Duck Pond Cake
This was a last minute order for a girl's graduation. The girl loves ducks and her MIL (my client) wants grandchildren really badly so she had me depict her DIL and son as ducks with a bunch of little ducklings swimming around them. I took the order on a Wed and she picked it up on Fri morning. I've never dealt with a more gracious client before or since. She called me from the car after she picked it up and was in tears, she was so happy with what I'd created for her. She sent me the most wonderful review I've ever received. It's clients like her that make all of the long hours worth every minute.

Swimming Pool Cake
This cake was done for a friend's swimming partner. They call each other Mr and Mrs Fish (in French) so that's how I came up with the fishes swimming theme. The birthday girl loved the cake so much she refused to cut it! The water is made from glucose with a rectangle of blue fondant under it to give it colour.

Louboutin Shoebox Cake
Ah...the shoe from Hell! Closed toed shoes are HARD! I would've loved to redo this thing but it took so long to do it that there was just no time. I'm really happy with the sugar figure though. It was my 1st portrait figure out of sugar and it turned out way better than I expected it to. I have no idea if the client liked it or not though because he wasn't there when I delivered it and altho he emailed me repeatedly with requests while I was making the cake he neglected to answer 2 emails from me requesting a review for my website. sigh...such is life in the cake world, eh?

Jurassic Batman
A Batman cake with a twist. This was for my friend's boy. I did a Land Before Time dinosaur cake for him the year before but this year he was having a superhero party. He still wanted a dino cake so I came up with this. He loved it. He loved it so much the 1s thing he did was eat Jurassic Batman's arm!

Animal Cake
The little boy's mom was having an animal themed party and was going to have a variety of real animals there for the kids to learn about. We chose a few of them to depict on the cake. There was supposed to be a scorpion and a chinchilla on the bottom tier but the black Satin Ice I used to make the tortoise was giving me a lot of grief and I didn't have time to make them. The client didn't care and was thrilled with her cake. I was too...this is one of my favourites.

Harley Davidson Cake
This is a mix of 3D and 2D. The front part of the bike is a sugar sculpture but from the gas tank back it's painted on the cake, as is the scenery. I was a bit worried about doing this cake as I don't like doing vehicles but I'm really happy with how it turned out. The additional photo is just a closer look at the bike.

Sitting Duck
This was a welcome home cake for my friend and her little girl. She likes sharks and gore and her daughter likes rubber duckies so I combined the two. Those are bit and pieces of the ducky's other friend floating about the dinghy. The shark is hand painted. Lemon cake with home made blueberry jam and blueberry buttercream
