My Mom's 50 Topsy Turvy
My mom turned 50 and I told her to pick any cake she wanted. She never did, so she went party supply shopping with me and chose the plates and napkins. I used that design to make a topsy turvy cake - she loved it!
My attempt of Debbie Brown's Frog Cake for our niece who loves anything green, aliens, and of course, frogs!
Jacob's Sock Monkey 1St Birthday Cake
This cake matches the party plates used for his birthday party. The oval cake is covered in fondant and the sock monkey's body and head are cake covered in fondant. His hat, ears and arms are fondant. The coordinating smash cake is iced in buttercream with a fondant hat and #1 on top.
Lightning Mcqueen - Cars
This was for our youngest nephew's birthday. This Lightning McQueen is from the first movie, when he finished fixing the road in Radiator City and shopped the town's business, getting new tires and a new paint job. We actually got it to look candy apple red and shimmery in person. I covered it in red fondant, airbrushed pearl sheen, then airbrushed red. The pearl sheen shimmers showed through. The car is all cake and the tires were cut from RKT and covered in fondant.
Here We Go Again!
Last year, I made this cake (in larger scale) for my brother-in-law and sister-in-laws wedding. For their first anniversary, I recreated it in tiny form - it stood a little taller than a soda can. I'm a little sad that my color mixer (aka hubby!) made the green a little too minty.
Bob The Builder
These cupcakes were made for Birthday Cakes 4 Free San Antonio for a little boy who turned 4 and loves Bob the Builder. Buttercream with fondant accents pieces to make Bob's face, tools, and letters spelling out the birthday message.
Toy Story Birthday Cake
Half ball pan moon on top of an 8" round, covered in fondant. The red ribbon matched the candles that were later placed on the cake - they were stars with his age and were yellow blue, white and red. I also made coordinating cupcakes that had a blue swirl of buttercream and a yellow fondant star.
Vivian's Twilight Cake
I made this for my niece's 10th birthday. She chose Twilight for her theme. I had planned to completely do the book covers as the panels, but we were without water for 5 days due to recent freezing. While our hotel had a kitchenette, it was small, no oven, and we had our pets in the room with us, so I opted not to work on any of the cake pieces during that time. I had to settle for just doing elements from each cover, but she loved it. Covered in fondant and decorations are out of gumpaste/fondant mix.
Pink Red & White Candy Barrel Cake
I love the cute Candy Barrel Cakes I've seen on CC and decided to make one for my MIL's birthday since Kit Kats are her favorite candy. Since her birthday is in February, I took advantage of the Valentine's colored M&M's to create my color theme. Leftover ribbon from Christmas and viola! Easy and quick! She loved it...so did my nephew's. They kept sneaking M&M's before we cut the cake!
Toy Story Etch A Sketch
I made this for my niece last July. Covered in fondant and made it look like an etch a sketch. She loves the little green aliens, so I made a face out of fondant and put it on the corner of the etch a sketch.
Baby Einstein Caterpillar
This was for my friend's son's 1st birthday. She asked for a cake with the Caterpillar from Baby Einstein. The caterpillar was fondant covered cake and the bottom tier of the cake was covered in the fondant. The top tier was covered and filled with lots of buttercream, perfect for Ethan to smash and play in and get all over his mommy!
These are coordinating cupcakes to go with the wedding cake as more guest were added after baking had been done. They were also Almond cake with Raspberry Cream filling, topped with buttercream and fondant with a fondant flower and leaf.
First Wedding Cake
This is the first wedding cake I've done and I'm honored that it was for my brother-in-law and new sister-in-law! This was inspired by a Lovin Sullivan Cakes design she found in a bridal magazine last year. It was almond cake with raspberry cream filling, buttercream and fondant. The top tier is covered with hand made blossoms. The middle tier had sugar crystals and an embossed fondant band. The bottom tier was covered with cut out fondant leaves.
My Husband's First Cake
This is my husband's first cake to fully decorate on his own. He wanted to do something special for his brother and this is what he came up with. His brother loves to grill and loves the Spurs. The cake is yellow cake with chocolate ganache filling and is covered in fondant. The grill sides and back are fondant panals with a fondant Spurs logo on each panal. The coals are marshmallows painted black and airbrushed red to make them look as though they are burning. The bars are food colored dowels. The chicken and corn are airbrushed fondant covered Rice Krispie Treats.
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse
Our nephew loves the Hot Dog song from Mickey Mouse so my sister-in-law threw him a Mickey themed birthday. I watched the youtube video to educate myself on the Hot Dog song and saw Mickey's clubhouse. This was no where near my original design, but after all the problems I had with this cake, I'm happy with how it turned out. Fondant covered and all decorations are fondant.
My Birthday Cake
I usually just don't have a cake for my birthday since my MIL's bday is right before mine and my niece's is the day after - and no one buys me a cake. This year, since it was my 30th bday, I decided I would fit in a small cake for me with leftover cake batter and fondant. Two tier mini cake (bottom tier is 4", top tier is 2"), covered in chocolate fondant with pink ribbon roses.
Slumber Party Birthday
Fondant covered strawberry cheesecake cake decorated to look like her invitation. Instead of Slumber Party, I put her name.
Mini Cake Topped With A Sugar Rose
One of the three mini (3") cakes topped with a sugar rose that I made to go with the potted plant cake.
Sugar Roses In Flower Pot Cake
Fondant covered cake carved to look like a pot topped with 50/50 fondant/gumpaste roses.
Fcfk - Bakugan Cake
Bakugan and Cherries Cake I made for Free Cakes for Kids, San Antonio Chapter. This was made for Simeon's 9th birthday. He requested a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting with cherries and Bakugan and/or a guitar. I purchased a toy pack to use for the decorations, which he gets to keep. The swirled disk under the dragon, the name banner, and the nine were all made from fondant. The bottom border is a ring of cherries. His mom said she couldn't wait for him to see it.
Fcfk 1St Birthday
Present Themed 1st Birthday cupcakes and smash cake I made for Free Cakes for Kids, San Antonio Chapter. This was made for Nicolas' 1st birthday. The cupcakes were vanilla with chocolate buttercream and fondant present cutouts. They have letters to spell his name or a 1. The smash cake was vanilla cake with chocolate buttercream and a fondant bow and ribbon. His parents were thrilled and grateful.
Ted's Touchdown Birthday
This was for my father-in-law's birthday, who is a huge Green Bay Packers fan. The football was a strawberry cake covered in chocolate fondant with fondant laces. The hat was inspired by (but not nearly as nice) CC member, dotscakestudio. It was a chocolate cake covered in vanilla fondant. The bill and emblem were also fondant.
I really wanted to try a pumpkin and since I had leftover batter from my hat cake, I decided to try a mini pumpkin! I used two mini bundt pans. It's covered in fondant with fondant vines and stem. I also airbrushed the pumpkin and stem.
Fcfk 3 Hot Wheels
This was my third cake for Free Cakes for Kids, San Antonio. The mother requested this cake because she had gotten into some financial trouble during the summer and was trying to get caught up. Kaleb was really excited about the cars, especially the Mercedes. The fondant roads make his age, 11. I made the Hot Wheels logo out of fondant and my husband made the birthday boy's name in the Hot Wheel's font. We lined the roads and sides of cake with fondant flames and flame panals.
Fcfk 2 Spongebob
This was my second cake for our Free Cakes for Kids Chapter. It was for a 10 year old boy whose sister recently passed away, his mother was laid off and his father is in prison. It was an extremely busy week at work and we had to deliver this over an hour and a half away, but his big smile when he looked at it made the late night and long drive worth it! Cake is covered in buttercream with fondant Spongebob and balloons. Sky and grass are airbrushed.
