Rose And Vine Wedding Cake
This is a 3-tier wedding cake I made this past weekend. The top tier is banana with vanilla buttercream, 2nd tier is marble cake with chocolate ganache, the 3rd tier is french vanilla cake with raspberry cream cheese frosting. This is the largest cake I've made to date and the first time I used gum paste on an actual cake, I've played with it twice before. I think it came out pretty darn good :)
My First Castle
Well a big series of firsts; first castle, first gum paste trial, and first fondant/gum paste flowers. I do have much more respect for people who make castle cakes all the time, I had such different ideas but this is how it came out :/. Oh well, lessons learned next time I'll cut the fondant for the turrets and towers before placing them on, and will make more of the flowers on tooth picks so they can be pretty 3D ones :) Strawberry cake with vanilla frosting. Thanks for looking!
Splendid 50Th Birthday
A cake for a very good friend's mom. She wanted something very neat and 'cool' since this would be a milestone and a big party. This cake was vanilla with strawberries on the bottom and chocolate with vanilla buttercream on top. This cake didn't turn out exactly as planned, the bottom yes but the top lines were all supposed to be the same and not have those little flowers. This was the first time ribbon roses failed me :( oh well! :D Friend was happy, mom had a great birthday so that's what matters!
Black Swirls On White Cake
This was my 3rd wedding cake and it was a fairly scary one. She wanted a white cake with black swirls and at first it sounded easy and I thought 'no problem'. Well after thinking about it my piping isn't the best and I had always had trouble getting my buttercream to be smooth and not have bubbles. So I just went for it and viola! I like it and the wedding party was speechless! I felt so bad delivering it because I was still shocked I had finished that I didn't really respond XD oh well. Red velvet with cream cheese filling and a vanilla BC frosting. :) Oh and I used the wilton press to help with the swirls.
Brother's Weddong Shower
My brother and his fiance had their joint shower not too long ago and this was the cake I made for them. I wanted to use my new diamond cutters and went back and froth on this design for like a week XD. The bottom is a chocolate cake with strawberry filling and the top is a strawberry cake with chocolate filling :) made with MMF except for the brown boarder is dark chocolate satin ice fondant, I liked it but still like using my MMF :) Thanks for looking!
Red Roses For Princess Sara!
Another really good friend from work, I wanted to do something very princess-y for her but didn't want it too young. So this is what I came up with, believe it or not the red roses were colored with Red Red by Americolor, and nothing else. My mom is my color gal so ask her how she did it! :D. Red velvet cake with chocolate ganache filling and buttercream frosting.
Practice Cake Time....take 2!
Still had free time, this is a orange-cicle cake with buttercream frosting. Again flowers right on cake, minus the roses :) I like it!
Practice Cake Time!
Yup totally had extra time this week so I practiced a bit :) cake is red velvet, with chocolate cream cheese filing. I had watched seriouscakes youtube videos and was tempted to try doing the flower right on the cake, well I chickened out on the rose and only did the little blossoms :) I like it!
Kena's Birthday Cake
Well this cake was for one of my best friends so I wanted to do it justice! I really didn't know what to do for her, if you met her you would be at a loss too! She's very random, and likes lots of different things so I went the pretty direction and did some flowers and vines (I think I'm getting better at this rose thing!) The cakes were a vanilla funfetti and a lemon cake :) I tried to do a whimsical design but I only had one night and limited funds, but I do love how it came out!
I received this order from a very nice friend of the family who also ordered the two bridal shower cakes from me. Needless to say I totally felt the pressure to go above and beyond for her! (this pressure was brought on from me, not her) Well all I can say is that I am really happy about how these turned out, the request was for polka dots, or squares, something retro. This is what was born from that; each cake has fondant as a base- one cherry the other almond, and then both had squares and circles painted on in the babies color and then fondant shapes placed over them. One cake was lemon, the other chocolate. :) I really do like these ones! oh and the ball border was supposed to be all different sizes, so that's why it looks a little wonky!
Laurie's Wedding Cake
This is my second wedding cake and originally I was scared that the gal who ordered it didn't want a 'normal' cake. I hadn't tried anything like this and to top it off it was for my mom's best work friend, so you can imagine the pressure! The cake's were chocolate and strawberry, and it was frosted with almond buttercream. I owe credit to this site for answering my many questions, and the hundreds of tips given. All in all I think it worked out great!
I can't really stand the rhyming Hannah Montana, so I added the r's. Friends niece's birthday party and she wanted a cool cake for it! This is a vanilla cake with banana filling and a vanilla buttercream under the fondant. I was browsing online for inspiration so I can't remember the exact photos but for the most part this came from my head :)
Happy 5Th Birthday, Thomas!
Well the child's name wasn't Thomas but he sure did love the show! The cake is a dark chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream and the little brown mass ('hill') is chocolate buttercream with chocolate chips tossed in. Grandma paid for the cake and daughter wasn't so sure about the price, but after they received it they all loved it! Oh and I used the wilton spray colors for the 'grass' and the 'river'.
Sunflowers Run Wild
This was inspired by an image in a magazine, I'm not sure which one, my mom only brought home the image. A friend at mom's work loves sunflowers and lemon cake so viola! I used chocolate chips as centers and added some vines and butterflies to better suit the woman it was for.
My First Wedding Cake!
Ok, as the title says this is my first wedding cake :D. I had posted a long time ago asking for random help on CC and the main response I received was to not do the cake and run away, why you ask? I charged the woman $100 for this cake. Granted the bottom 3 are dummies and only the top one is a real cake, still they loved it and I'm sooo tired right now, so this is where it ends. Oh, real cake is vanilla with vanilla frosting.
Well I didn't really have an idea going into this cake. Just needed one for memorial day because family was coming over. The cake was a lemon one with lemon frosting. Thanks for looking!
I saw a few photos of ribbon roses so I decided to try them on this bridal shower cake...I liked them :) They were easy and looked cute. This is a chocolate cake with almond buttercream. Thanks for looking!
I wasn't given too much of a theme to go on, other then garden and party :) So this is what came of it! This is a Greek lemon cake with lemon buttercream :)
Cake For Brother!
This was a pain in the bottom to do! I had to do everything without milk, or butter or any dairy which was not easy for me! The cake was chocolate and the 'butter-less' cream was an orange flavor.
Well not really a Quinceanera cake but people at work referred to it as such :) This was a chocolate cake with almond buttercream frosting.
Phantom Of The Opera
This is a practice cake I made just for fun. The theme is Phantom of the Opera, which I got to go see :D, but anyway, the cake is a vanilla and chocolate mix with cherry flavored buttercream for the layers and the swags are a champagne flavor. This is going to go to work with me and hopefully people there will eat it :). Oh the mask is white chocolate and the large rose is a silk one.
Going Away Mickey Cake
This is my second paid cake for a friend. Because of this site I wasn't scared to tell her the real price and she was ok with it! The cake is a dark chocolate fudge cake with cran-raspberry buttercream, while the mickey was the same cake with watermelon buttercream. This is also my largest cake (diameter wise) so far, 9 inches.
Brown Flowers For Her Birthday
This is my first real paid cake! A woman who was eating one of those others seven cakes and she asked it I took orders! I almost fell over. Anyway, the cake is a lemon cake with vanilla buttercream covered in fondant, with brown leave cut outs for the petals. Any comments welcome!
The last of the seven, this was my other top two favorite! I painted the pink parts with the luster dust you can buy at Michaels and it was so much fun!
Again, one of the seven I did. This one was a training cake for my mom. I started it and let her finish it, I think she did great!
